SISTERS AND CO-OWNERS OF THE OYSTER GIRLS TO OPEN THE SHUCKERY, AN OYSTER BAR + RESTAURANT IN THE HISTORIC HOTEL PETALUMA IN SUMMER 2016
PETALUMA, CA – Sisters Aluxa and Jazmine Lalicker have collaborated to open The Shuckery, a 54-seat oyster bar and restaurant in the heart of downtown Petaluma. The Shuckery will be the first oyster bar and restaurant in Petaluma. The restaurant will feature oyst
ers and seafood from Coast to Coast, as well as local produce and wines. Some of the local purveyors include: Tomales Bay Oyster Company in Tomales Bay, Lavender Hill Honey in Petaluma, First Light Farm in Petaluma, Singing Frogs Farm in Sebastapol and TwoXSea in San Francisco. After growing their roving oyster bar company, “The Oyster Girls”, over the past nine years, sisters and entrepreneurs Aluxa and Jazmine took a celebratory trip to one of the epicenters of American oysters: New Orleans. While enjoying local fare and discussing their next dream project, they started pulling together ideas for their first brick and mortar restaurant: The Shuckery. Their vision for The Shuckery grew out of a desire to find new ways to share their love of oysters with each other and a larger community, to support local, national and international oyster farmers and to educate customers on being part of the aquaculture community. Jazmine Lalicker notes: “We wanted to create an inspiring place with a dynamic mix of our favorite oysters and seafood to share with our local and out-of-town guests. We delight in learning about the story behind our featured items and in educating consumers about what they will be enjoying.”
Guests can expect a swift shucking lesson as well as the same customer-centric service they have received with the Oyster Girls. A reflection of their mutual love of the ocean, the restaurant will have an earthy vibe with a palate of colors and features including leather, rod iron, saddle and seaweed.
“For the interior, we wanted to design an organic and elegant atmosphere reminiscent of the locale of the items that we serve. We want our customers to step into an inviting space where they can be both relaxed and entertained in their free time,” shares Jazmine Lalicker. The Shuckery is a 1500-square-foot oyster bar and restaurant in the historic Hotel Petaluma. Situated beside the recently opened Barber Cellars Tasting Room, it will be within walking distance from one of the stops of the new SMART train. The Shuckery, 100 Washington Street, Petaluma, California, is located at the intersection of Washington Street and Kentucky Street.
