JACK'S EATS & BREWS·SUNDAY, AUGUST 5, 2018·

Cheri Davies and Sue Stathers opened the doors of Tillies Icon on July 7, 2011 in Alexandria, Indiana after renovating a vacant building. With family bar business experience, Sue found the building and invited Cheri, whose family experience offered a background in the restaurant business, to look at the building. The endeavor provided Alexan

dria with an establishment offering a restaurant menu which included Cheri’s mother’s infamous breaded tenderloin recipe, spirits, live entertainment and community support. Throughout the years, Cheri and Sue not only ran the established business and occupied a vacant building; they were strong supporters of the community. Each year, they supported Breast Cancer Awareness month in October not only to honor Cheri’s mother’s personal struggle but to support the Community Hospital Foundation’s Breast Health Services. Beginning in 2013 raising $350 for the cause, they raised over $5,000 for the cause over four years. In addition, they made financial donations to the Alexandria Community Fireworks Fund, the Alexandria Toy Drive, the Alexandria Pet Food collection effort for sheltered animals in Alexandria, and more. Councilman Bob Stinson, from Alexandria, said, “I think they (Cheri and Sue) have done a great service to the community and for this neighborhood”. In December 2017, they retired as the owners of Tillies and helped with the transition to new ownership. However, retirement didn’t last long! The opportunity came up to purchase this building and they decided to use their expertise to remodel and start another bar here in Peru as an investment. Cheri has strong family ties in Peru and she has attended Peoria Church over 40 years with her oldest brother, Jack “Marty” Davies who resides at Miller’s Merry Manor and her younger brother, Tim Davies – local DJ, who has lived in Peru for over 45 years. Her nephew, Jeremy Batdorf, will be the manager. The name Jack’s also hits very close to home as Cheri’s father’s name is Jack who passed away in 1982. Also, her oldest brother is named after their father, her youngest niece’s name is Jacklyn and her first born niece Andrea (Jeremy’s wife) just had a little boy and named him Jackson....so needless to say, Jack’s seemed like the right fit! Cheri and Sue look forward to supporting the Peru Community for many years to come!
