Helllllooooooo P-Town!!!! I know it’s been awhile since we’ve made a post, but just wanted to let y’all know what’s going on! So to continue in the tradition of serving excellent food, the new restaurant that will be opening up (exact date to be announced) will be serving ramen noodles- Bright Belly Ramen! Not just any ramen noodles but fresh made noodles!!!! We were fortunate enough to be invited last night to a trial tasting. Let me tell you what….it was AMAZING!!!! In that bowl of deliciousness is a house made noodles, soy marinated egg, chili oil, scallions and pork belly (and some other tasty ingredients). BrightBelly Ramen is currently selling “take home” noodles kits for 2 at the riverfront market as well. These do not disappoint!!!

Just a little heads up. The baker is the new food and beverage manager at the Peoria Zoo.

It’s a work in progress, but hopefully by the spring I will be able to bring some C&B favorites to the zoo.

We are currently open Wednesday - Sunday 10:30-4:30. And entry into the zoo is by donations only until Valentine’s Day (since it’s even too cold for some of my new animal neighbors to come out to say hi.)

No cupcakes. :) The combination of cupcakes and little kids is too messy! But I’m trying a handful of new cookie recipes. :)

Well P-Town……y’all sure didn’t disappoint! Karen n I knew we had a fan base, but y’all went above and beyond to show us much love and support ever since we announced our retirement. So much so in fact, we ran out of food…..I ordered what I thought would be enough to ride us through till the end. But with the demands of the community we ended up like Mothers Hubbard Kitchen lol. In reality we didn’t want to go gently into the good night and everyone who came in these last couple weeks made sure we didn’t. As most of you have noticed if you tried to call recently it’s been a madhouse, and I apologize that we missed your calls. So with that being said, we shut the blinds and cashed out the till for the last time today. It has been an honor and a privilege to have been able to serve y’all over the last decade. Thanks for taking this journey with us..watching us grow, seeing the kids grow, eating all the crazy foods we’ve fed ya….we wouldn’t have been able to do it without you💕
So stay tuned…we’ve got some crazy ideas marinating so to speak- like us writing a CnB Cookbook with all your favorite recipes, what do ya say to that?

Hey there P-Town!! Sooooooo by now I’m sure a lot of you have a questions….
If you’ve seen Channel 25 News, yes, it’s true- The Chef and The Baker is going to be closing at the end of month (Aug 30th). It is with a very heavy heart that we announce this. Everyone has been so supportive and shown us so much love over our 10-year journey, it’s been amazing! We’ve made great friends, so many memories, been a part of a great community, and have extended our family by knowing all of you. I wish it was a financial reason, but it is a physical one. For those that don’t “know” …. I had surgery in 2022 (in fact, I had 2 back surgeries within 4 days) So, as I recovered Karen handled all the CnB daily operations. But as most of you know and have seen, my recovery has not been smooth or routine. I put up a good showing, but the demand of the business is not helping my rehabilitation. The hospitality industry is a grueling and relentless occupation and with me not being able to physically keep up with the demands of the business, we have decided to close the doors. We made a good 10-year run – beat all the statistical hurdles…2/5/7 years and even got a bonus round of surviving the pandemic! So, with that being said we decided to “go out while we were on top” as it were. Just know that we appreciate all that everyone has done for us. We can’t wait to see everyone and share the love with ya’ll over the next few weeks. Thanks for all the memories and support!

Good afternoon Peoria!!! Just wanted to remind everyone that we will closed for our annual “get outta town” trip starting July 1st-July 16th. We are celebrating the milestone achievement of them obtaining their black belts in taekwondo! We will reopen on July 17th on our normal business hours. So please take a look at the menu online for the changes as some things may have gone away for the springtime. Thanks so much for all the love and support, have a wonderful day!
