On July 23, 2026, 2,300 people came out to the Peoria Riverfront Museum for the Great Neighbor Appreciation Cookout! 🎉🌮🌭

Hosted by the Community Development Department, the event celebrated our community, along with our nation, in coordination with America 250. With tasty food, family-friendly activities, local vendors, and community partners, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

Thanks again to the Peoria Riverfront Museum and everyone who participated in all the fun! 💙❤️

On Thursday, July 23, the Community Development Department hosted the 2026 Great Neighbor Appreciation Cookout at Peoria Riverfront Museum!
With tasty food, family-friendly activities, local vendors, community organizations, city staff and vehicles, and free access to museum exhibits, it was an amazing night of neighborly love and appreciation. Enjoy photos from an unforgettable night:

Wednesday was Local Business Appreciation Day! 🎉
As part of Great Neighbor Appreciation Week, Community Development staff visited local businesses, gifted them with a box of cookies, and thanked them for making Peoria sweet. 🍪
Casa de Arte, First Ascent Peoria, Haddad's Restaurant, The Old Symposium, Intuition Coffee + Juice, Okinawa Hibachi Sushi Ramen, The Fish Geek, Restoration, Urban Artifacts - Peoria, and Zion Coffee Co, were among the day's visits.
Staff also helped spread the word about the Great Neighbor Appreciation Cookout (Thursday, July 23 from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at the Peoria Riverfront Museum, 222 SW Water Street!), and shared information about resources for Peoria businesses!

The Great Neighbor Appreciation Cookout is TONIGHT! 🏘️ 🌭

Join us for this FREE event on Thursday, July 23, from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the Peoria Riverfront Museum (222 SW Washington Street). Enjoy an evening of free food, family-friendly activities, city vehicles and equipment, community organizations, and more!

The event will include: free food (Los Medranos Tacos and Tony's on Wheels Haddad's Restaurant) a lemonade truck (All Shook Up Lemonade), face painting and a balloon artist (Zoo Lady and the Zoo Crew), a bounce house (Heart of Illinois Inflatables), art activities, Kona Ice of Peoria, barnyard animals (Barnyard Discoveries), Paint a Snow Plow, 309 Sound: Professional DJ Services, the Peoria Police Department, Peoria IL Fire Department, and community resources!

As part of the 11th annual Great Neighbor Appreciation Week, this year's cookout will also celebrate America 250, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States. The Peoria Riverfront Museum will be open to the public, and attendees will have free access to all museum exhibits. 🇺🇸
