The word tianguis is derived from Nahuatl, the language spoken by the Aztecs. Held on certain market days in a town or city neighborhood in Mexico and Central America, the tianguis is an open-air market whose tradition is rooted well into the pre-Hispanic period and continues into the present day in major cities across America. Our goal is to provide a marketplace where Central Illinois shoppers will find reasonably priced goods and a great way for entrepreneurs to grow their business.
