"Turn it and turn it, for everything is in it." 📜

Wishing everyone at B’nai Israel and our wider community a joyous Simchat Torah and a restorative Shabbat Shalom. Together, we celebrate ending one cycle and eagerly starting the next page of our journey. Just as the ending of reading the torah also marks the beginning, in one beautiful cycle.

As we prepare for simcha torah, I thought a brief description on the cycle of the Torah may be meaningful. The practice of reading the final lines of Deuteronomy and immediately rolling the scroll back to begin Genesis—without taking even a single day's pause—holds deep spiritual and communal meaning:

Torah as Continuous and Infinite
It signifies that the study of Torah has no fixed endpoint. By seamlessly transitioning from the conclusion of Deuteronomy directly into the opening words of Genesis, we show that our connection to learning and spiritual growth is an unbroken, ongoing cycle rather than a task to be completed and set aside.

Preventing the Appearance of Relief
Tradition teaches that if we were to finish the Torah and stop, it might look as though we were relieved to be done—as if completing the text were a burden we were eager to put down. Starting again immediately demonstrates our love for the text and our eager anticipation to engage with it anew.

Fresh Perspectives Every Year
While the words on the page remain the same, we change and grow each year. Beginning the cycle again right away highlights the Jewish belief that every reading brings new insights, deeper understanding, and fresh perspectives based on where we are in our own lives.

The Eternal Cycle of Renewal
Simchat Torah celebrates both completion and renewal. Linking the end directly to the beginning reinforces the eternal nature of the Jewish story and tradition, connecting past generations with future ones in an uninterrupted loop.

Pizza in the Sukkah! 🌿✨
What a festive, joy-filled night at B’nai Israel! This week our community gathered under the sukkah for our Pizza in the Sukkah celebration, and the energy was wonderful.
From delicious pizza, treats, w**e, and cheese, it was the perfect way to fulfill the mitzvah of dwelling in the sukkah together.
Our youngest community members had a blast getting creative at our craft stations—making colorful handprint art on a keepsake table cloth to enjoy for years to come, origami creations, and Sukkot picture frames to commemorate the holiday!

If you would like to join us in an upcoming Shabbat service or holiday event, please reach out to our office for information!

One of the greatest joys of Sukkot is seeing the sukkah filled with the energy, laughter, and curiosity of our children. Listening to them learn, recite blessings, and share a meal in the sukkah reminds us why these traditions matter so deeply.
When our young ones sit inside the sukkah, they aren’t just learning about a holiday—they are stepping into our shared history, building memories, and learning to wrap themselves in the warmth of community and divine protection.
To watch the next generation embrace these heritage moments with bright eyes and open hearts is a true shehecheyanu moment for all of us.
