Seven years ago today, I opened the doors to Taglia with no idea just how much this restaurant would shape my life. Every anniversary, I wonder what challenges the next year will bring, and somehow each one comes with its own. Over seven years, we’ve made it through a pandemic, freezes, floods, business challenges, long nights, hard decisions, and more lessons than I could count.
This year, the challenges became much more personal. An unexpected health scare and discovering a heart condition I never knew I had put so much into perspective. It reminded me how quickly life can change, how little control we really have, and how important it is to stop and appreciate what we’ve been given. More than anything, it strengthened my faith and reminded me just how faithful God has been through every season. Looking back, I can see His hand throughout this journey—opening doors I never expected, carrying me through difficult seasons, and surrounding me with incredible people.
Taglia also became the beginning of something much bigger for our family, eventually giving me the opportunity and confidence to create Portara and Stella’s. Watching each restaurant grow and become part of its community has been one of the greatest rewards of this journey. To every team member, past and present: thank you. Some of you have been here since the beginning, and so many coworkers have become family. To everyone who reached out today, your messages mean more than you know. Taglia has never been just a restaurant—it’s been a chapter in so many of our lives. To our guests, thank you for showing up, celebrating with us, bringing your families, telling your friends, and supporting a local restaurant year after year.
To my family, thank you for every sacrifice, late night, and ounce of support.
And to Logan: you are my biggest drive and my greatest reason to build something I’m proud of. I hope one day you see more than restaurants. I hope you see the faith, hard work, perseverance, family, and people behind them.
