We’ve been a little quieter than usual as we soak up the summer and enjoy being present. We’re fortunate to live in a community where trips to the library, pool, drive-in, arcade, and other amenities can pepper our days and create long-lasting memories with our 4-year-old before he officially starts school in the fall 💛

The garden is growing like crazy and we expect to have produce in the stand soon. We have plenty of duck eggs, and are still taking additions to our chicken egg waitlist for those looking for local, pasture-raised eggs. I may be biased, but they are absolutely delicious and the perfect addition to your breakfast plate.

There are always risks when you truly “free range” your flock. Our birds have no cages, fences, or runs. Instead, they frolic on 2+ acres and are only locked in their coops overnight.

What they gain in freedom, we risk in safety, but we do our best through motion detection, camera alarm/alerts, and secure overnight spaces.

Our biggest predators are coyotes and raccoons, but we’ve also encountered problems with minks and hawks in the past.
