Bill's Grill Cafe is a Must-Visit: Home of the REAL Hamburger!
Hamburgers are a way of life for many who want a big, juicy, mouthwatering burger. I will be the first to admit that I pretty much like the kitchen sink piled on mine, and it is even better when I can find a restaurant that makes homemade chili. Sure, we can stop at any big chain to get one, but those burgers have no character or flavor and are mass-produced. Why would I want to keep pouring money into those establishments when I would prefer to support small businesses that are the backbone of this country and help local economies? Unfortunately, finding mom-and-pop restaurants is becoming difficult.
A few years ago, I ran across a page on Facebook while scrolling when Bill’s Grill flashed across my phone. The burger was massive, made of real meat, and located in South Carolina. The gentleman in the photo had a hat and glasses on, a beard with a grill master look of a new superhero called The Hamburger Man, who is saving residents from puny burger joints. The guy I am referring to is Chris Gainey, the owner of Bill’s Grill Café, Home of the REAL Hamburger at 359 Highway 1 S in Patrick, South Carolina.
Gainey purchased the restaurant approximately 11 years ago and has since become a local celebrity on Facebook for his pictures with visitors to his establishment in front of the iconic Bill’s Grill sign, but better known for making patrons loosen their belts a few notches before leaving his restaurant. A wise person once said, if you leave Bill’s Grill hungry, that is your fault.
First, the hamburgers are real. Second, the chili and pimento cheese are homemade, and Bill’s Grill may be the best food in the state. They are Lantern Approved. Do yourself a favor and make the drive. I promise you will not be disappointed. Please check their page for operating days and times.
