Happy RED BEANS MONDAY, y'all!! 🫘
In New Orleans, Monday is sacred. Back in the 1800s, Monday was wash day — ladies spent ALL day scrubbing clothes by hand, so they'd throw that leftover Sunday ham bone into a big pot of red kidney beans, season it up good, and let it simmer low and slow on the stove without a single worry. By suppertime? Pure soul on a plate.
Even the legendary Louis Armstrong loved red beans and rice SO much he signed every letter "Red Beans and Ricely Yours, Louis Armstrong." That's how deep this tradition runs, cher!! 🎷
And those Camellia Brand red kidneys right there? Since 1923 — the ONLY bean in any real New Orleans kitchen. That bag isn't just groceries, bèbè. That's HISTORY.
I brought this Monday tradition all the way from New Orleans to Colorado, and today those beans are soaking and getting ready to feed y'all some real Monday magic.
