You may have already seen him in action at the cafe, but we’re excited to officially welcome Bodhi (Bodhi Gilroy) to the espresso-slingin’ team! ✨

Though Bodhi may be young, he brings a surprisingly vast amount of knowledge and wisdom on all things coffee, photography, carpentry, and a whole lot more. Come by and say hi, and if you want to learn about the intricate way in which steamed water elevates an americano to new heights of flavor and complexity, Bodhi is your guy! ☕️🤘

Coffee Grounds anyone for recycling? We generate about 10 pounds a week and we're looking for someone who wants the grounds for recycling. Currently there are 4 small galvanized cans behind the bookstore. If you're interested and want to come take a look, let me know. We're also thinking that we could invest in two 55 gallon cans and alternate them weekly or bi-weekly, which would require a truck probably to load and unload. DM or stop in the bookstore and see me or Fernando. Thanks! And if it's useful, our beans come from Sweet Bloom Coffee in Lakewood and 95% of our beans are the Hometown variety.

PSA and ALERT! DMEA will be visiting the North Fork Valley tomorrow, January 20, 2026, and we invite you to stop in, have a chat with board members and staff and grab a coffee drink from us and a small savory plate from Coquelicot Pastries, all gratis DMEA. Staff and board will be available between 11 and 1 inside Paonia Books. It's a listening tour and DMEA encourages everyone to show up with questions, ideas, or suggestions on how DMEA can serve us all better. A limited supply of Spark! branded tumblers will be available as well. We hope to see you!

Hello Friends:

Espresso Paeonia will be closed tomorrow, New Year’s Day. When we reopen on January 2, 2026, Espresso Paeonia be under new ownership! As y’all know, I sold my business to Jay Kenney and the JK Cider Co. He’s looking forward to a soft opening on Friday and on through the month of January. I’ll be helping out with the transition through the end of the month, working several days a week along with a new crew of baristas. Thanks for all your support over the last 4 years!

Clear Fork Cider spearheads Espresso Paeonia expansion!

Espresso Paeonia opened in 2021 with a central question, “Is Paonia ready for Specialty Coffee?” and y’all answered with a resounding “Yes!” Over the years it has been a pleasure to watch EP grow and change. That said, the time has come for Morgan to make some changes. In the spring of 2026 he will be relocating away from Paonia and Jay will take the helm.

As many of you already know, in 2026 Espresso Paeonia, along with Clear Fork Cider and Paonia Books, is moving into the building next store. Jay, and Fernando are excited to take Espresso Paeonia from the little corner shop it is and develop it into a fully fledged cafe!

Early on many of you took to calling the coffee shop Morgan’s Place. While a touching sentiment, it has never been just Morgan’s. The name Espresso Paeonia was no accident. The cafe has always been, and will be of and for the people of this community.
