Mat Wyble, owner and operator of Mat's Good Coffee, has been in the coffee trade for ten years, learning the science/art of coffee in an increasingly passionate, fulfilling manner along the way. Mat started working in a cafe/eatery in Downtown Panama City called the Java Bar. There he got to know the area's coffee drinkers and grew a desire to learn more about coffee. After three years, Mat start

ed to work for Joey's Java Juice on the beach. From Joey he learned the majority of his brewing skills and was introduced to the science and art of coffee. When Joey sold his business one year later, Mat came back to the downtown area working for the new owners at Joey's Coffee. Mat reconnected with his old regulars and started building their interest in quality coffee. Joey's Coffee closed and Mat started to work for Amavida five years ago. He started as a barista (coffee bartender) and was taught espresso/coffee machine maintenance. In a year's time he started to roast coffee for them. Mat traveled to some of the farmer coops that Amavida sourced coffee from as a part of Coop Coffees . He went to Washington state and competed in the 2010 Roasters Guild Retreat. In the roasting competition his team brought home first place. Mat was then promoted to master roaster, responsible for all the cupping and roasting of coffee for Amavida. Mat now knows the quality of coffee he once aspired to, and he is looking forward to bringing home the art of fine coffee to Downtown Panama City.

Good coffee, good times, good friends. I'm sorry to say I will not be reopening Mat's Good Coffee. But, I want to take this chance to thank all of my regulars and my irregular regulars for helping me achieve a lifetime goal. Also I want to thank CityArts Cooperative for believing in my art of coffee. Without them my dreams would have never become a reality. I am also happy to announce that I am working at Amavida Coffee again! I have seriously missed these folks. As I know I will miss all of you. So I guess it is still good coffee, good times, good friends. Love, Mat.

We lost everything in a fire. After doing all we can to care for mom who needs 24/7 care halfway across the state and traveling more than we have the funds to, we lost the nest we built together. Her father's ashes. Everything I had after my father's death. Some things are replaceable, some not....
