A message from The Byrds:
As many of you are already aware, ownership of Gone West has transferred to a new family. We served this community with everything we had for 8 years and it was our privilege to do it. We opened with tour groups in mind to keep business through the canyons and community. We survived COVID through love and compassion for the people in need by donating supplies to the reservation that were too sparse at the grocery stores. We served events from holidays to baby showers, to graduations, to proposals and weddings, to celebrations of life and more. For the last few years we have struggled in our personal life with significant health crises with the immediate family. Letting go of the restaurant was the most difficult decision we have had to make, but ultimately our family had to come first and we truly hope everyone can understand that.
We didn’t want to have to make some big goodbye post because we hoped to remain cordial with everyone we left behind, but unfortunately the Page rumor mill got away from us and now we see the importance of standing our ground on our way out the door. Please understand that we did not intend to blindside anyone or act with malicious intent in leaving, it was a necessary change to get the help we so desperately need and couldn’t receive while running such a large operation. We did what we could to train and prepare our staff for the transition and worked alongside the new owners to make the change as seamless as possible. That being said, anything that the new owners decide to do is entirely out of our hands as it is now their business to learn to operate. Gone West has the biggest dining area of any restaurant in town and it will be a huge learning curve for the new guys. While they are still figuring out how to handle so much, please offer them the same grace you would any new restaurant in town.
Additionally we ask that you refrain from attacking our family personally. Page is a small town with a lot of mouths and it is ignorance to think slander won’t find its way to us. People insulting our family for leaving is the kind of petty drama that makes it that much easier to walk away, so I suppose thank you for that. On a personal level we have done so much to support so many people at their lowest who are now turning their backs because they feel abandoned which is a sad revelation of their true character. To the people who have shown us love and support, we see you and we are grateful to call you our true friends and family. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve this community for as long as we have and good luck to the new owners in this exciting adventure ahead of them.
