The lake season doesn’t end all at once. It fades out one good evening at a time.

And we’ve still got a few good ones left.

Donnie of Take Two is coming back to the pontoon stage this Friday from 6–8 PM. Last time Donnie joined us, he put on quite a performance for the folks who happened to be sharing the patio with him. Good music, good company, and one of those evenings that reminded us exactly why we built this place by the lake.
So we figured we’d do it again.

We’ll have live music Friday AND Saturday night this week, starting at 6 PM, as we squeeze a little more out of the season before fall settles in.

And speaking of fall…
Lago Vista is officially moving back into our fall and winter rhythm. We’ll be closed Mondays, but Tuesday through Sunday we’ll keep doing what we do, serving this community 11 AM–9 PM and keeping the grills hot long after the boats start disappearing from the lake.

Summer may be winding down, but Lago isn’t.
Come grab a margarita, find a spot on the patio, listen to Donnie play, and spend one of these last warm evenings with us.

Cruisin' the Shoreline is going to be hosted here at Lago Vista!

Here's a message regarding the changes from the event's cordinators:

We have supported Cruzin’ the Shoreline since the beginning in one way or another. After the passing of Denny Tryon, the originator of what was meant to be a casual and fun event, we were asked by the family to continue the tradition. We want to thank everyone for their support along the way; however, with today’s economics, everyone has to protect their interests, and we do not blame them.
Due to insurance requirements and the fact that the restaurant at Lake Perry Yacht and Marina is going to be closed for the season before our planned cruise date (Sept. 13), we have now decided to continue to honor Denny in the town that he called home for many years. Ozawkie, still on the shore of Perry Reservoir.
We have already committed to Nate in the Evening as our musical entertainment, as we have the last several years, and Lago Vista Grill in Ozawkie has welcomed us to their fantastic outdoor patio and stage to host our gathering. While this year will be smaller, we still welcome you and your motorized pride to join us for a casual get-together and possible cruise. Same date, same time, different location. Main Street Ozawkie welcomes you to come hang out. There may still be awards and door prizes, but there won’t be any entry fee. Hope to see y’all out there!

🎸 LIVE MUSIC SATURDAY | TYLER SWAIN | 6–9 PM

Labor Day Weekend is always a little chaotic around Lago Vista.

We’ve got the restaurant running, the crew slinging food at ABATE, catering going out the door, boats on the lake, drinks on the patio and probably three other things we forgot we agreed to.

So this year, we figured we might as well put a little chaos on the pontoon stage too.

Tyler Swain takes over Saturday night from 6–9 PM.

Playing country like he has his life together and living like we know he doesn’t. 😂

Grab a margarita, claim a spot on the patio and settle in for some country music, lake air and the general Labor Day ruckus that happens when everybody collectively decides summer isn’t over yet.

🌶️ LAGO VISTA GRILL × DUDE SAUCE 🌶️

When Lago Vista and Dude Sauce share a spot at ABATE, apparently we don’t know how to behave ourselves.

We’ve been growing peppers together all season specifically for this moment. Carolina Reapers. Puma Reapers. Pineapple Ajis. Red Habaneros. And a few other little demons we probably shouldn’t mention without legal counsel.

Today we suited up, harvested the goods and pickled the whole beautiful, terrible mess.

Saturday at the ABATE Labor Day Rally, they’re going into our Papas Burrito for the Spicy Eating Contest.

The challenge is simple:

🌶️ Loaded with our homegrown, pickled pepper arsenal
⏱️ Eat it faster than everybody else

Lago brings the food.
Dude Sauce brings the heat.
Together, we make questionable decisions.

🎸 SATURDAY NIGHT — WE’RE TURNING IT UP AT THE LAKE.

This Saturday we’re welcoming Haunts N Hearts to Lago Vista Grill for the first time — and this one’s going to sound a little different than what you’re used to hearing out here.

That’s exactly why I booked them.

Haunts N Hearts is a Topeka-based, high-energy band bringing the 90s and 2000s alternative, rock, pop-punk and emo songs a whole lot of us grew up on.

Think less sit quietly and listen.

More “Oh hell, I know this song.” 🤘

Good food. Cold drinks. Perry Lake in the background. And a band that knows how to put on a show.

This is Lucas.

When I first came to this area, he was 16 years old and working on my crew. Over the years, he spent time with me at Lago before eventually leaving for a kitchen management job in Topeka.

Recently, he moved back.

I asked him if he needed a kitchen again, because some things don't really change — he'll always have a seat at my table.

He took me up on it.

And this week, I came across some beautiful garden-fresh jalapeños. Lucas took one look at them and already knew what needed to happen.

He pulled out his jalapeño popper recipe, we kicked some ideas around, and together we turned it into something worthy of a Lago weekend:

Lucas' jalapeño poppers topped with steak and chipotle crema, served with rice, beans, and flour tortillas.

That's the thing about a kitchen. If you do it right, you're not just building cooks for the shift in front of you. You watch people grow up. They leave, build their own skills, find their own way — and sometimes they come home carrying a few recipes of their own.

We're pretty damn proud to have Lucas back behind the line.

These summer evenings have been hard to beat. The sun starts to settle, the patio fills up, cold drinks hit the table, and the music takes over.

It's Friday! We'll have music from 6 to 8pm but if you're in Perry my brother will be serving his tamales at Fredrick's Liquor Barn. Honestly his pork tamales are the best I've tried yet. Go check him out!

Today Friday 8/7 we will be in Perry at Friedrich's Liquor Barn from 4pm to 7pm! We're taking a fresh batch of Chicken Rojo and Pork Verde Tamales!
