They say you could see him early in the morning, walking down 5th street towards the beach with his fishing pole in hand. In 1952 he decided to leave the existing family business and turn his passion for fishing into a business of his own. Along with his wife Helen, they started Izzy Otani Fish Market at 608 S A. Street in Oxnard California. He expanded over the years and the fish market became a

place where people could also find Japanese groceries and their fish bait and tackle. The restaurant was started in the same building in 1972 and is still serving hungry customers today.

The Steve Special is 2 pieces of Red Snapper and 2 pieces of Shrimp, all season fried and served with rice and salad. (Try it with lemon and a little soy sauce - that’s our favorite!)
