It’s a small world that we live in, and you never know who you are going to meet. My friend, Lewis Roszell, was enjoying lunch at Brad's Bar-B-Que the other day and introduced me to the 2 ladies who were with him. I asked them where they are from. They informed me that they live in Lakeland, Florida. We made small talk about the Lakeland area before I told them that one of my best friends in the whole world works at Publix there. One of them asked “What is their name?” I responded “Jack Anglin.” She laughed . Lo and behold, Tami Grimes informed me that she works under Jack at Publix. What a coincidence!!

We enjoyed visiting with Joe and Teresa Gann Nance during their recent visit to Brad's Bar-B-Que. As soon as they arrived, Teresa asked for my mother. Teresa and Joe once lived on Peggy Drive in Roanoke, Alabama. Peggy Drive is a street named for my mother in a subdivision developed by my parents. The house that Teresa and Joe owned was built by my parents. Teresa is a member of the Walter Wellborn High School class of 1976 and Joe is a member of the Ohatchee High School class of 1975. Although she and Joe now live in Wedowee, Alabama, they had a wonderful time reminiscing about their time in Roanoke, on Peggy Drive.

My day is always brightened when I run into my friend, Fred Jordan. He has one of those infectious personalities that you like to be around. Fred is a regular customer of Brad's Bar-B-Que and the owner of Neat & Clean 100% Hand Car Wash located at 1930 Noble Street in Anniston, Alabama. I trust all of my vehicles with him. If you want your vehicle to look and smell brand new, take it to Fred at Neat & Clean!! If you want a Taste of the South,” come eat with us at Brad’s Bar-B-Que!!

It wasn’t quite how I expected to spend my birthday, but what an honor and pleasure it was to host a private dinner for Cam Hamilton at Brad's Bar-B-Que last night. Mr. Hamilton is the Administrator of FEMA (the Federal Emergency Management Agency), and was in town to cut the ribbon on the Center for Domestic Preparedness Advanced Responder Training Complex. He is a former Navy Seal, who has vast knowledge and experience for the position in which he serves. I greatly enjoyed our interaction and found him to be humble and a true servant leader. Thank you for your service to our country, Administrator Hamilton. We promise to have a brisket for you on your next visit.

Y’all help me wish my mother a Happy Birthday, today!!! She is an incredible woman and she is such a Blessing to each one of us!! She is still unbelievably active, staying on the go, doing so much for so many, including working 2 shifts at Brad's Bar-B-Que, cooking in the mornings and filling for hostess during her lunch break in the afternoons. Happy Birthday, Momma!!! We all love you and are so very thankful for you!!!

He is preaching his last sermon as Pastor of New Haven Baptist Church this morning. George Robinson is a dedicated man of God who has served as Pastor of New Haven for over 7years, but feels it is simply time to step down and wait to see what else God has in store for him. I first got to know George when he worked in law enforcement, before he became an attorney and started practicing law. Whitney and I got to know his wife, LeAnn Robinson, when she went to Honduras with us as a part of the Honduras Baptist Medical Dental Mission team from Parker Memorial Baptist Church in Anniston, Alabama. We get to see them more regularly now as they are frequent customers of Brad's Bar-B-Que. We wish y’all well and hope to see y’all soon. Happy Sunday!! May God Bless you!!!

We don’t see each other nearly as often as we used to, so it was great to catch up with Warren Laird as he made his first, but hopefully not last, trip to Brad's Bar-B-Que. Warren is from the Walker County, Alabama, Cordova, Alabama, specifically. His family stayed in Walker County, while mine migrated this way. My grandmother was born in Cordova, but his father moved the family to Rome, Georgia where my father was born in 1939. Although Warren and I are distant cousins, we are close and have spent a lot of time together over the years. We both attended the University of Alabama, where we first met, graduating in 1983. We were classmates at Cumberland School of Law, graduating together in 1986. We were both admitted to the Alabama State Bar on the same day in September of 1986. We were both appointed and served as judges in the 1990s, Warren as District Judge for Walker County, Alabama and me as Circuit Judge for Calhoun and Cleburne Counties. We hope to see him in his new favorite barbecue place more as he travels to visit with his firstborn, Mary-Kate, in Atlanta.

He has the most gentle and peaceful soul of anyone that I know. Bob St. John is the longtime Pastor of Anniston Bible Church, located at 3230 Coleman Road in Anniston, Alabama. I love to see him enjoying a meal at Brad’s Brad's Bar-B-Que, whether it is with his family, friends, missionaries serving in other countries, missionaries from other countries, or staff and interns seen in this photo, here. Bob is seated at the bottom right of the photo. Happy Sunday!!!
