Keeping our gear in peak condition is how we make sure every shot tastes as good as the last! ☕️🔧

Quick heads-up for tomorrow (THURSDAY): our primary La Marzocco GB5 espresso machine will be getting a scheduled tuneup and a few fresh parts during the last two hours of the day (1:00 PM – 3:00 PM).

What this means for tomorrow afternoon:
Before 1:00 PM: Full menu as usual!
1:00 PM – 3:00 PM: Espresso-based drinks will be offline while the technician works his magic.
Still available all day: Batch brew drip coffee, cold brew, pour-overs, hot/iced teas, and all baked goods!
If you need your latte or cappuccino fix tomorrow, be sure to stop in before 1:00 PM. Thanks for understanding as we give our equipment the TLC it needs! ❤️

Summer is moving fast, and our team is taking a quick breather to soak it all in! ☀️⛺️

Our café will be CLOSED next week from Tuesday, August 18th through Thursday, August 20th (plus our usual closed Monday on the 17th).

Our owners are heading up north for camping and fishing on Lake Michigan, our manager is on a family trip, and our bar team is getting extra days to recharge! We'll be back behind the bar, fully rested and ready to serve you, on Friday, August 21st.

☕️ Pro-Tip: Stop in this weekend to grab a bag or two of whole beans so your home setup stays stocked while we’re away. Thanks as always for supporting our small craft business! ❤️

Stop drinking muted cold brew. ❌

Most of the cold brew you buy is brewed to the lowest common denominator. It’s made by throwing coffee grounds into a plastic Toddy bucket, letting it sit in water with incorrect mineral makeup for 24 hours, and serving up a heavy, oxidized profile that mutes the actual flavor of the bean.
We don't do lazy, and we don’t do muted.

Meet the Limited Edition Crackalacka Nitro Cold Brew, featuring our single-origin El Salvador. This batch features a prized Pacamara variety forged in a distinct mountain micro-climate and amplified by anaerobic processing.

This isn't your normal cold brew. We pushed past the limits of our classic Crackalacka by running this exceptional harvest through the Brew Bomb—a precision drip-column extraction system. Instead of drowning the coffee, the Brew Bomb relies on pure extraction physics, pulling out the vibrant clarity, clean sweetness, and crisp origin notes that standard buckets completely destroy.

Fresh coat at the Mill. 🪵☀️
We had the front apron of the building and the patio area seal coated yesterday, so things are looking incredibly sharp outside.
We are completely OPEN today, but the orange tape will be up for the rest of the day while everything cures. To get inside and grab your coffee, just bypass the tape and use the front steps right off the Polly Ann Trailway.
We’ve been taking some big swings lately to upgrade our outdoor area, improve community parking, and make building access smoother for everyone. Take a quick walk around the grounds with us in the video to see how it’s all shaping up.

Most years for the 4th, we’d probably post photos from our travels out west or in the National Parks. But for the big 250th this year, we wanted to keep things. That’s a time-lapse of a sparkler from a family friend's farm camp, and a big boom over neighboring Lake Orion from a previous year.
Let's face it—this country takes a lot of hard work. It’s never been perfect, and it isn't perfect now. It’s a continuous project, and the invitation is wide open for absolutely everyone to roll up their sleeves, drop the noise, and help build a better community.

A quick logistics reminder as we head into the holiday weekend: The Mill is CLOSED on Saturday, July 4th.
Friday is the official day to lock in your weekend fuel.
We are fully stocked on the bar tomorrow with our 1.5L pouches of Crackalacka Cold Brew. Small-batch, smooth, and ready for the cabin deck, the bonfire, or the boat.
⚠️ Crucial rule of the trail: Do not forget the cooler. This is precious cargo—it’s incredibly fresh and needs to stay chilled to keep that crisp flavor profile locked in for the drive.

4th of July Weekend Schedule 🗺️☕
Quick logistics check for our neighborhood trail-goers and regulars heading into the holiday weekend:
• Friday, July 3rd: OPEN (Come see us!)
• Saturday, July 4th: CLOSED (Happy 4th!)
We will be fully operational on Friday to make sure you have all the premium fuel you need for the lake, the trail, or the back deck.

There is a lot of heavy steel moving outside The Mill today. The street is getting a much-needed upgrade, and our neighbors have graciously allowed the crews to overhaul the community lot, too. It’s a day of pure chaos, but it’s going to make a massive, lasting impact on our corner of Oxford.
To everyone dodging excavators and braving the dirt to get your caffeine fix today, we see you, and we appreciate you. Consider this your official neighborhood survival reward.

🌑 Not a Solar Flare. Just a Really Angry Gust of Wind. 🌑

Despite what this photo of an eclipse might suggest, the universe isn't ending and the sun is functioning perfectly fine. Our electricity, on the other hand? Not so much. 😅
A local wind gust just blew through and took out the power grid at the mill. Since our espresso machines stubbornly refuse to run on good vibes we unfortunately have to close the cafe for the rest of today.
The good news? The power company is on it, and we fully expect to be recharged, re-caffeinated, and back open for our normal hours tomorrow (Friday)!
Stay safe out there, Oxford. We’ll see you in the morning! 🌲☕💨🔌
