It is with a very heavy heart that we have to announce that Duke’s Meats – Warrenton will be closing.
After doing everything we could to keep this location open, we have simply run out of options.
At the end of March, our building was struck by lightning, which damaged our large open-air meat display case and the building’s A/C system. Since then, we have repeatedly asked the building owner, Al Fleming Investments, to repair the A/C. Unfortunately, those repairs have not been made.
When the City of Warrenton owned the building, the A/C worked flawlessly for the entire 15 months we operated there. It also worked for approximately 18 months under the previous owner. The store stayed cold enough that customers and employees often joked about needing hoodies, even in the summer. A working A/C system is not a luxury in a fresh meat market—it’s a necessity. Today, without a functioning A/C system, we cannot safely and responsibly operate the fresh meat market our customers deserve.
This decision is heartbreaking because it wasn’t caused by a lack of customers or community support. Warrenton welcomed us, supported us, and helped make Duke’s Meats a success. We are incredibly thankful for every customer who walked through our doors.
The good news is Duke’s Meats in Oxford is here to stay, and we’re committed to continuing to serve all of our customers—including those in Warrenton.
Coming Soon:
• We will soon be serving lunch at our Oxford location Wednesday through Friday (takeout only).
• We will announce the official start date as soon as the rest of our equipment has been moved and everything is fully set up.
• We will also begin offering deliveries from our Oxford location so we can continue serving our Warrenton customers as best as we possibly can.
Store Closing Sale:
We will be having a 25%–50% OFF sale on everything in the Warrenton store as we prepare to close. We will post the dates and details as soon as possible, so keep an eye on our page for updates.
To everyone who supported our Warrenton store, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. This is not the ending we wanted, but we look forward to continuing to serve you from our Oxford location. We hope you’ll continue to support our family business, and we can’t wait to see you there.
Thank you all for your loyalty, your encouragement, and your support through the years. It truly means the world to us.
