Lady is our WINNER! She gave us our very first egg over here at Jen’s Hens.

I might add these little ladies also put themselves to bed now in the hen house each night. It’s super cute! All we have to do is close and lock the door for safety from predators.

We have a new pair of babies over here! I made the mistake of not removing the pigeon nest as soon as the babes were old enough to leave the nest and now we have a new pair. After these, we are officially closed for the season!

We have some new baby birds over here at Hoogstad Ranch! Despite everyone’s warnings, Cheryl insisted on allowing a few birds to make nests on the back porch…and now we have babies! In one nest we have 2 baby pigeons. And unsure what kind the other nest is but they are small. I think I can count 4 or 5 baby beaks and eyes in these photos. How many do you see?

It's bedtime over here and the hens are getting used to their new digs. Farmhand Len had a tough time getting them all in bed. They are a feisty little bunch just like most Southern Belles are! Welcome home sweet lil ladies, welcome home.
