🦆 The Duckie Diaries • Chapter 1
Every Great Story Has a Beginning…
Some stories start with a business plan.
Ours started with a dream… and a food truck.
Back in 2010, I launched TheFunnelCakeTruck and over the years it became more than just a business—it became a way of life. Our kids grew up in the food truck world. They spent weekends at events, helped serve customers, learned the value of hard work, and made memories we’ll never forget.
As the years went by, they grew from little kids into teenagers, and I started dreaming about what our next chapter might look like.
Then, in 2020, we found this worn-out 1974 Chevy P10 that had spent its life as a Dolly Madison bread truck in Topeka, KS.
Most people saw an old truck.
I saw possibility.
What followed with the help of my best friend Charlie were many late nights, busted knuckles, learning as we went, and slowly transforming an old delivery truck into something completely new.
But we didn’t want it to be “Funnel Cake Truck #2.”
We wanted it to have its own personality.
Its own story.
Its own identity.
That’s how DuckiesOnTheGo was born. 🦆
Today, Duckie is rolling through Kansas City serving lemonades, cotton candy, popcorn, root beer floats, ice cream, and plenty of rubber ducks. And while our dream of maybe one day having a Duckies dessert shop, for now we’re exactly where we want to be…
Bringing the treats to the streets of Kansas City. 🍦🍋🍿
Over the next several weeks, we’re going to take you behind the scenes and share how Duckie came to life—from the day we found the truck to the day we served our first customer.
Whether you’ve been with us since TheFunnelCakeTruck days or you’re just discovering Duckies, thank you for being part of our journey. We can’t wait to serve you soon!
