Recently we've have received a few questions and concerns about the current food borne health scare.
Current FDA investigation has provided that the use of lettuce by a nationwide fast food chain seems to be the most obvious culprit.
While we would love to be able to access this cost cutting, easily pennies on the dollar better than our current service, we can not. So we use a local wholesaler (Emporia) for our fresh produce items.
Over the last 40+ years of doing business with this company, there have been more than a few of these scares. Every time there was even the slightest possibility of an issue, they immediately reached out to us with information or solutions.
To add another layer of trust, we know our sales rep personally. Heck, he and Rick both graduated the 6th grade from Penguin U over on 5th and Cedar only to continue through OMS and OHS together. He also previously owned a very successful and popular restaurant in Ottawa before his career path lead to his current position.
Even if the corporate "Head Shed" of our supplier directed the reps to sit on information that might affect the bottom dollar, we know he would warn us if he had any concerns. Especially considering he and his entire extended family are long time customers of the PV (fun fact, his sister was in just last night). Nothing of the sort has happened.
You see, we are in the business of repeat customers. If there was any chance of danger, we would shut down before we endangered anyone with our products or services.
You have the choice to eat anywhere you like, so please don't question our integrity if we are said choice, or you might be informed that " if you're that concerned you are more than welcome to go somewhere else " like our most recent skeptical guest was.
