🚨 HELP US SAVE OUR Sarasota Rugby Club 🚨
April 9-April 10 noon to noon. The giving challenge of Sarasota, set up to help non profits in this area, will match any donations made during that window!

For years, Gulf Coast Rugby Foundation, aka Sarasota Rugby Club, has had an impact in the Sarasota & Lakewood Ranch community. Some of our parents and players tell us how the sport has changed their lives, and set them on a good path. Recently, we found out some news and are faced with losing the field we call our home.
Our club has developed immensely this year, with both a strong youth program and a winning men’s team with their eyes set on a state title.
The youth program has kids of all ages, starting at age six. This year we’ve hosted several youth rugby tournaments, bringing in players from all over the state to help develop not only our players but the sport in Florida. Our youth program takes kids from all walks of life and gives them a safe, fun sport with a little intensity that teaches discipline. The Gulf Coast Rugby Foundation also offers scholarships to players who struggle to participate in the program due to financial hardships.
Many of our men’s club players have been playing for Surge since they were in the youth program. The men’s team secured their spot in the state semifinals. If they win the state finals, the team will travel to Austin, TX for a regional title. That’s the goal, and the guys are determined to get there.
Unfortunately, while both programs are at an all-time high, this stellar season will be the last at our field.
That’s why we’re seeking help from our community, from you.
We are a 501(c)3 charitable foundation, and are looking for donations to help support our club through this time. This is especially important from noon on April 9th through noon on the 10th, when our club will be participating in The Giving Challenge. During this time, we’re seeking monetary donations to contribute toward keeping our rugby program alive in this area.
We are also looking for a field to train on two nights a week, as well as games on Saturdays. Ideally, the field would have lights since our practices run into the night. Any leads on land that can be leased or donated would be very helpful as well.
