After over 5 years, after much deliberation and meetings, we feel it’s time to take a hiatus. Shake ‘n Bass has been much more than a night, it’s been apart of a cultural movement that has inspired many across the nation and across the world. We’ve celebrated people enjoying a sense of liberation and fun while maintaining mutual respect for one another. We’ve celebrated music that you just can’t hear anywhere else in Orlando. We are so proud of what we’ve accomplished over the last 5+ years, the family we’ve gained, and the people we’ve met. All of the artists we’ve brought through Shake ‘n Bass are essentially like family to us now, we thank them all for sharing their sounds with us. We’re so immensely grateful for all the experiences we’ve shared with you all. Truth be told for us to continue as long as we did after BIG MAKK and Gady passed away was a feat of its own, but us continuing, in spite of the void and the pain, helped us to heal and to find our purpose within ourselves and in our community and we cherish all of you who stood by and supported us over the last year. We’d like to thank both BACKBOOTH and Vintage Lounge for allowing us to come in and be ourselves, we wouldn’t be Shake ‘n Bass without that opportunity, and with that we are forever grateful. You’re probably wondering what’s next? Well there are a lot of changes on the horizon, so many changes that we couldn’t justify continuing the night at this point in time. Maintaining a weekly, on a Sunday, for as long as we did is not exactly an easy feat, and we all mutually feel that in order to grow we need to develop individually as artists, so we are taking the time to do just that. Each of us, Dr. Khan, Ma-LESS, K1K0, & City Tucker, respectively has a different perspective and objective on goals we’d like to achieve and what we must do to move forward to achieve said goals. Again this decision is mutual and we will forever continue to love and support one another, but we feel devoting every single week to Shake ‘n Bass is holding us back from reaching our true potential as artists. Our long term goal is to reunite down the road, stronger and bigger than before, so that we can continue to keep Shake ‘n Bass alive in a more impactful way. Where we’ll be reuniting and when will ultimately depends= on what happens in the next coming months but we’re excited for the challenge and the journey ahead. If you’ve ever stepped foot into Shake ‘n Bass we would sincerely like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts, you are who made Shake ‘n Bass what it is, we were just blessed with the opportunity to provide the soundtrack and the space for you to be you. We’d love to thank Orlando and all of the people and its beautiful diversity, many people doubted us in the beginning saying we wouldn’t last 5 months and thanks to you we proved them all wrong. Thank you, we love y’all forever! So with that, we won’t say goodbye but more so we’ll see you later. We hope you’ll continue to support us until we reunite again!
