Gilberto Rolando Hall was born and raised in a small providence called Colon in the Republic of Panama in Central America. Gill's mom Grace told him when he was leaving to come to the U.S, "son there is nothing here for you; go to America and make me proud" Gill promised his mother that he would make her proud! Gill got his B. Degree from Brooklyn College, City University in New York City; majori
ng in Physical Education. Straight out of college he started working for Boys & Girls Clubs in N.Y.C. He quickly realized he could cook when his dad Randal, who Gill considers the best chef in the world, told him he had the magic touch in cooking! Gill hung on to those words and started spending a lot more time in the kitchen cooking and inviting his friends to come over and taste some of his inventions! Soon friends and family members were telling others about how great his food tasted and people were asking him to cook special dishes for their special occasions! Gill has followed the advice of his mother Grace ,and acknowledging his God-given gift of cooking, he has started his own business in catering called LA GRACE CAFE; naming it after his mother, and building this business on God's Grace! Gil's specialty is Afro-Caribbean and Hispanic Cuisines, reflecting his Panamanian roots. He enjoys seeing the smiles on people's faces when they are eating and enjoying his food. Gill's goals for the future include opening a Jazz Cafe where families and friends can come and have great food and enjoy good jazz music.
