Every pastry has a story, let me tell yours! A party without a cake is just a meeting. Let me create Storybook Delights is a local Orlando cottage bakery.

That delivers to the surrounding Orlando area. We also have a shipping option available. Our main goal is to create anything that a person can think up. We love to push the envelope on every creation and make flavors as well as decorations pop. There are a few specialty flavor cakes that were inspired by popular candy bars as well as traditional cakes. So if you have any questions please feel free

to contact us. We strive to make sure we deliver the best product possible. We do not have a physical location for a bakery currently, but dreams of having one in the future. Any special dietary desserts can be arranged. All the items I create are on shared equipment and no matter how well I keep them I cannot promise no cross contamination. ❤️ Story Behind the Story: National Grandparents Day

Long before culinary school, Disney kitchens, professional pastry kitchens or Storybook Delights... there was my grandma's kitchen. ❤️

Some of my earliest memories of being in the kitchen are with my grandmother. I remember standing there helping her and rolling out pie dough together. At the time, it was just something I did with Grandma. I certainly wasn't standing there thinking, “Yep, I'm going to make food my entire career.” 😂

But looking back now, I realize those little moments mattered.

Eventually I went to culinary school, became a pastry chef, spent years working in professional kitchens, and somehow ended up building a business where I get to create desserts that become part of other people's birthdays, weddings, holidays and family memories.

And it all started somewhere. ❤️

I think that's one of the reasons the stories behind food mean so much to me. A recipe can be more than ingredients written on a piece of paper. Sometimes it's Grandma's pie. Sometimes it's something you only make at Christmas. Sometimes one bite takes you right back to a kitchen you haven't stood in for years.

Maybe that's also why “Every dessert has a story” ended up becoming such a big part of Storybook Delights. Because some of my own food stories started long before Storybook ever existed.

🍰 Spotlight Saturday: Baking a Difference ❤️

This week's Spotlight Saturday is a little different because I want to shine the spotlight on an organization I've been lucky enough to be a small part of for quite a while—Icing Smiles.

I'm one of their Sugar Angels, volunteer bakers who create custom celebration cakes and treats for families impacted by the critical illness of a child. I've had the privilege of making a handful of cakes for Icing Smiles since I signed up, and every one of them has had its own story. ❤️

I was actually supposed to be delivering another one this week—a Dream Cake for a little one's FIRST birthday, complete with silly monkeys and lots of pink and purple. 🐒💕💜

When I first connected with the family, they weren't sure if they were going to be able to have the party because their little one had been in the hospital. Things were looking up, plans started moving forward, and I told them to just keep me updated. If they were able to celebrate, I would make the cake. ❤️

Unfortunately, plans changed again and they found themselves headed back to the hospital.

So we're changing the cake plans too.

Instead of their full Dream Cake right now, I offered to make them an 8-inch birthday cake that they can enjoy together at the hospital, and I'm giving them a raincheck on the big silly-monkey Dream Cake for whenever their little one is home and they're finally able to have the celebration they had planned. 🎂❤️

Because the cake can wait.

A first birthday still deserves something sweet, even when the celebration doesn't look anything like the one you imagined. And when they're ready for that BIG celebration, I'll be ready to make those silly pink-and-purple monkeys. 🐒💜

That's one of the reasons being a Sugar Angel means so much to me. Sometimes you're creating the big celebration cake. Sometimes plans change. Sometimes you simply meet a family where they are and find a way to give them a little bit of normalcy and something worth smiling about.

Since 2010, Icing Smiles has delivered more than 35,000 custom cakes to children across the country. And I'm incredibly grateful that Storybook Delights gets to play a tiny part in that mission.

I've always said every dessert has a story. Some stories don't go according to plan—but that doesn't make them any less worth celebrating. ❤️

And one day, when this little one is ready for those silly monkeys, I'll be ready too. 🐒🎂❤️

👀 Okay... I may be jumping on a trend. 😂🥟

If you've seen the adorable little mystery dumplings taking over everyone's feeds lately, you may have also seen bakers turning them into cake pops...

And apparently I have absolutely NO self-control when a cute food trend crosses my feed. 😂 So naturally, Storybook Mystery Dumpling Cake Pops are coming too! 🥟🎂❤️

I'm working on different colors, and I'm adding my own little twist to the mystery... there mayyyyy be a special GOLDEN dumpling hiding among them. 👀✨

The dumplings themselves are just about ready—I'm waiting on their containers before I officially release them into the wild. 😂 Once everything is here, I'll share all the details about the different dumplings, how the mystery works, and what happens if you find that golden one. 👀

Sometimes I create something completely from my own weird little brain... and sometimes I see a trend and think, “Yep. I'm playing too.” 😂

Today, we remember.

25 years ago, September 11, 2001 changed our country and countless lives forever.

Like so many people, I still remember exactly where I was. I was sitting in my freshman English classroom, and my teacher already had the TV rolled into the room. It's one of those moments that stays with you—the room, the people around you, and the feeling of watching something unfold that you didn't fully understand yet.

And now, 25 years later, my son is already learning about September 11 in school. He's asked if we can take a trip to New York so he can see the memorial for himself. There's something surreal about realizing that a day I remember living through is now something my children are learning about as history.

Today we remember those who never made it home, the first responders who ran toward danger, the families who lost loved ones, and the countless acts of courage and compassion that followed.

The words on this image are something I think are worth remembering too—not just today, but every day: “Life is short and there is no time for hate.” ❤️

Whatever our differences may be, kindness and compassion will always matter.

Where were you on September 11, 2001? Do you remember where you were when you first heard what was happening? 🇺🇸

It's National TV Dinner Day, which got me thinking about those nights when dinner planning just... isn't happening. 😂

You've made it through the day. Everyone is hungry. Nobody knows what they want. And somehow they're all looking at YOU like dinner is magically going to appear.

🍝 Throwback Thursday!

Remember a while back when I shared that sushi cake for Wish Wednesday and said I REALLY wanted an excuse to make a cake that looks like sushi? 🍣🎂

Well... apparently wanting to make cake look like food isn't exactly a new thing for me. 😂

Throwing it WAY back to my sculpted cake days when I made this lasagna cake—complete with Garfield, because obviously if you're making a lasagna cake, there's really only one appropriate character to put on top. 😂🐱

One of the things I've always loved about cake decorating is making you look at something and have to do a double take... “Wait... that's CAKE?!”

Looking back through these old pictures is reminding me just how many crazy things I've turned into cake over the years. 😂

So now I'm curious: If I brought back one of these realistic-food cakes, what food should I turn into cake next? 👀🎂

🧸 Apparently it's National Teddy Bear Day!

And you know what that means... I had to go digging through the Storybook archives to see what bears I've turned into cake over the years. 😂

Turns out there have been a few!

There's something about teddy bear cakes that just works for birthdays—cute, cuddly... and then we celebrate by cutting into them and eating them. 😳😂 Cake decorating gets a little questionable when you really think about it.

So in honor of National Teddy Bear Day, I'm pulling one of my bears out of the archives. 🧸🎂

🍎 A little something NEW just hit the Farmacy shelf!

Remember those cute containers I was waiting on? They're finally here, which means my Apple Cider Mix has officially made its way to The Makers Market & Farmacy! 🍂❤️

And here's a little tip when you make it: I recommend starting it with hot water so everything dissolves really well... but that doesn't mean you have to drink it hot! 👀 Once it's mixed, pour it over ice for iced apple cider, which is JUST as good.

Because it's September in Florida. 😂 My brain may be screaming cozy fall drinks, but the temperature outside is still screaming absolutely not. ☀️🍎

So now you can have your fall apple cider either way—cozy and hot OR Florida-approved over ice. 😂

🧂 Pantry Secrets: Cooking Salt vs. Finishing Salt — what's the difference?

Salt is salt... right? Wellllll, not exactly. 😂

The salt you grab while you're cooking and the salt you sprinkle over something right before serving can actually have two very different jobs.

Cooking salt is usually added during the cooking process. It's there to season the food throughout, enhance the other flavors, and become part of the dish itself.

A finishing salt is added at the END. Instead of disappearing into the food, it's meant to be noticed! It can add a little burst of saltiness, texture, aroma, or another layer of flavor depending on what's infused into it.

And finishing salts aren't just for savory foods either. 👀 A tiny sprinkle of salt over brownies, chocolate chip cookies, caramel, or even certain cakes can make the sweet flavors taste even better. Chocolate + salt is one of those combinations I will defend forever. 😂🍫

That's also why I started making the finishing salts in my Storybook Pantry Collection. They're an easy way to add one last little layer of flavor without completely changing what you're making.

The biggest Pantry Secret? You don't need much! Finishing salt isn't something you pour all over your food. Start with a small pinch, taste, and add more if you want it.

😂 Meme Monday: Labor Day Edition

Apparently Labor Day is supposed to be a day where we celebrate workers by... not working.

That's adorable. 😂

Small business owners, did anyone remember to tell us?!

Because even when I'm technically “off,” there's usually something happening in the Storybook world. Messages to answer, invoices, shopping lists, planning the next Farmacy restock, checking inventory, thinking about what needs baked next... or lying in bed remembering something I forgot to put on tomorrow's list. 🤦‍♀️😂

I've definitely gotten MUCH better about creating boundaries and giving myself actual time away from Storybook, but owning a business has taught me that your brain doesn't always clock out just because you do.

So today, here's to everyone who works hard—and especially my fellow small business owners who saw Labor Day on the calendar and thought, “Cool... so what am I working on today?” 😂❤️

📚 Happy National Read a Book Day! ❤️

I mean... with a name like Storybook Delights, you KNOW I couldn't let this one go by without saying something. 😂 I've always loved the idea that every dessert has a story, but today we're talking about the OTHER kind of stories—the ones that keep you saying, “Just one more chapter...” when you absolutely should have gone to sleep an hour ago. 📖👀

And apparently being a bookworm might be genetic. 😂 My son JUST started 3rd grade and passed an AR test with 100% on a 4.7-level book—that's roughly a 4th grade, 7th month reading level! 📚❤️ And he's getting SO close to hitting ONE MILLION words read! I have a feeling we're going to have another very full bookshelf in this house. 😂

So in honor of National Read a Book Day, I'm curious...

Is being a bookworm genetic?! 😂📚 And what book have you read that you wish you could completely forget just so you could experience reading it for the first time again? ❤️

🧁 Tomorrow is market day... which means today looks a little something like THIS. 😂

People see the finished booth with everything packaged, labeled and lined up nicely... but Saturday is the part you DON'T see. Baking, cooling, packaging, labeling, making lists, checking the list, realizing I forgot something on the list, adding another list... 😂

The good news? After doing this for a while, I've finally gotten my market prep down to a pretty good system. There are little to no more super-late market prep nights! 🙌 Past Ashlee would probably be very confused by this level of organization. 😂

Don't get me wrong—it's still organized chaos around here. I've just gotten much better at figuring out what needs to be done when, what I can prep ahead of time, and how much I realistically need to make. Apparently experience really does teach you a few things. 😂

Tomorrow I'll be at Paradise Market at Camp Margaritaville from 10 AM–2 PM, so today the Storybook kitchen will be BUSY getting everything ready! 🌴🧁

The hardest part is still deciding how much of everything to make. Too little and I sell out early. Too much and I'm staring at leftovers Sunday afternoon wondering why I thought I needed THAT many cookies. 😂

But hey... at least I'm not doing it at 2 AM anymore. 🤣

🍕 It’s National Cheese Pizza Day!

Sometimes you don’t need fancy toppings... a good cheese pizza just HITS. 😂 And because I apparently consider finding you food deals part of my job now, I did a little digging. 👀🍕

🧂 Apparently today is National Spice Blend Day... which is pretty convenient timing around here. 😂

My Storybook Pantry Collection has slowly been growing, and one of the things I've really enjoyed is getting back into the savory/chef side of my brain and creating blends that aren't just for baking.

But September DOES mean I get to play with all those warm baking spices too... and Apple Pie Spice has officially joined the shelf! 🍎🥧

Of course, despite the name, Apple Pie Spice doesn't have to stay anywhere near an apple pie. 😂 Add it to oatmeal, pancakes, French toast, muffins, cookies, coffee or hot cocoa... basically anywhere you want a little warm fall flavor.

And there are definitely more Storybook spice blends rolling around in my brain. 👀 Some sweet, some savory, and probably at least one that starts with me standing in the kitchen saying, “Okay, but what if I add THIS?” 😂

🍰 Eat an Extra Dessert Day

🍰 ATTENTION: I have important news.

Apparently today is Eat an Extra Dessert Day, and I'm pretty sure this is the kind of national holiday we should all be taking VERY seriously. 😂

Had a cookie? Have another. Brownie after lunch? Sounds like you probably need dessert after dinner too. Cake for breakfast? I'm a pastry chef... you're asking the wrong person to talk you out of that. 🤣

For once, I'm not responsible for enabling you. The calendar said so. 😂

So tell me... if someone handed you ONE extra dessert today and calories, diets and adult responsibilities didn't exist, what are you picking? 👀🍪🍰🍫

🧠 Shelf psychology is CRAZY... and apparently I'm conducting my own experiment. 😂

One of the things I never expected when I got my shelf space at Makers Market & Farmacy was how much I would learn about where you put a product. I've been playing around with my shelf layout over the last few months—moving things up, moving things down, turning packages a different direction—and then watching the sales.

Guys... IT MATTERS. 😂

Take my chocolate-covered pretzels. I didn't change the pretzels. I didn't change the price. I didn't change the packaging. I literally just turned the boxes a different direction and reorganized the flavors so you could see them better. Sales increased drastically.

Then I moved my finishing salts down underneath my infused sugars. Again, same salts, same price... different location. Last month I sold more finishing salts than I did in the previous TWO months combined. 🤯

My newest experiment is the cheese crackers. 🧀 I moved those up to the top shelf, and they sold really well last week after the move. That one is still TBD because I need more time before I decide whether I've actually found their sweet spot. 😂

And apparently grocery stores have been onto this forever! There is actual psychology and research behind things like eye-level placement, visibility, grouping products and how they're displayed. Meanwhile, I'm over here moving a box six inches and going, “WAIT... THEY'RE BUYING IT NOW?!” 😂

The coolest part is that I'm basically getting a hands-on education in retail merchandising using my own products and sales. Businesses can spend a LOT of money researching this kind of thing, and my little shelf has become its own experiment.

Now I find myself standing in grocery stores looking at the shelves differently too. 😂
