Edie with Nicholas Stahler, c. 1986. We used to dress him up in a blue blazer and bow tie, and take him to the Chez for ice cream. While his dad was working in the dining room, Nick entertained Edie and her guests in the lounge.

We lost our extraordinary Bar Manager Ray Barrientos this last Saturday at the age of 88. Ray was one of the most personable and professional members of the Chez Cary staff for over 15 years. His abilities as a mixologist were legendary, surpassed only by his formidable knowledge of wine, spirits and ci**rs. He truly made the Chez one of the "Great Restaurants of the Western World."
