KANON VALLEY WOMEN SHINE ON REGIONAL AND STATE GOLF STAGE
Carlo, Kuhn and Hamilton Post Impressive Results; Carlo and Hamilton Selected to Represent New York State
VERONA, N.Y. — Three women from Kanon Valley Country Club have enjoyed an impressive stretch of competitive golf, earning top finishes in Central New York and at the state level while continuing to represent Kanon Valley with distinction.
Pennie Carlo, Melinda Kuhn and Monica Hamilton recently competed in the third annual Break The Bank Senior Invitational at Lakeshore Yacht & Country Club, where the Kanon Valley trio swept the top three positions.
Carlo captured first place, followed by Kuhn in second and Hamilton in third, giving Kanon Valley a clean sweep of the tournament’s top spots.
The Break The Bank Senior Invitational, run by Perry Noun, provides senior golfers with an opportunity to compete for cash prizes and is sponsored by CNYSG and the Underwriters Association.
Strong Showing at NYSGA Senior Women’s Amateur
The success didn’t stop there.
Carlo, Kuhn and Hamilton also represented Kanon Valley in the New York State Golf Association Senior Women’s Amateur Championship at Binghamton Country Club.
Carlo put together an outstanding performance, entering the final round in the final grouping and ultimately finishing fourth overall — just four strokes away from the championship title.
Hamilton was also in contention, playing immediately ahead of the lead group and finishing tied for eighth, while Kuhn completed another strong tournament with a 15th-place finish.
Having three Kanon Valley women finish among the top 15 in a statewide championship was an impressive accomplishment and continued a memorable stretch of tournament golf for the group.
Carlo and Hamilton Selected to Represent New York State
The next chapter will take Pennie Carlo and Monica Hamilton across the border.
Both have been selected to represent New York State in the Ada MacKenzie Cup, where the New York team will compete against Canada at Lookout Point Golf Club in Ontario, Canada, October 4–6, 2026.
Selection to the team is a tremendous honor and another significant achievement for both golfers.
The competition honors Ada MacKenzie, one of Canada’s most celebrated female golfers and a pioneer of women’s golf. MacKenzie founded the Ladies’ Golf Club of Toronto in 1924, was named Canada’s Most Outstanding Female Athlete in 1933 and was inducted into the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame in 1976.
For Carlo, the selection caps an especially impressive run that includes a victory at the Break The Bank Senior Invitational and a fourth-place finish in the NYSGA Senior Women’s Amateur.
Hamilton’s selection follows her third-place Break The Bank finish and top-10 performance at the NYSGA championship.
