ONEIDA — After a short delay, Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen is finally scheduled for its opening day Monday, Dec. 5. Doors will open at 10 a.m.

The new restaurant is located in the former location of Pizza Hut at 204 Genesee St.

Popeyes will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday; from 10:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday; from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday.

ONEIDA, N.Y. -- Another new Popeyes restaurant will be opening in the area, this time in Oneida on Genesee Street, at the former Pizza Hut location on Saturday.

ONEIDA, N.Y. -- Another new Popeyes restaurant will be opening in the area, this time in Oneida on Genesee Street, at the former Pizza Hut location on Saturday.

Liberty Restaurants of Syracuse LLC made the announcement Thursday. The restaurant will be the franchise's 1 of 10 new restaurants they have opened this year. A location opened in New Hartford earlier this year and one is expected to be built in Rome next year.

At their grand opening this weekend, there will be a raffle, merchandise giveaways, a ceremony and live music.

ONEIDA — A new fast food chain is headed to Madison County as Popeyes will be coming to Oneida, replacing the closed down Pizza Hut restaurant at 200 Genesee St. in the city.

The opening of Popeyes, the fast-food eatery known for its fried chicken and chicken sandwiches, has been among a variety of different possibilities for the site discussed by Oneida residents on social media. The discussions have intensified as the Genesee Street location was fenced off.

Oneida City Clerk Sandra LaPera confirmed that Popeyes was moving in but couldn’t give a definitive timeline to when it will open.

The building, which once housed the Pizza Hut, is expected to be torn down and a new building constructed to house the new restaurant.
