I fancy myself something of a handyman…”A jack of all trades, master of none.” I can’t count the number of times I’ve looked at a project and thought to myself, “I can do that.”

I certainly learned some skills and had some successes (more so after learning the skills). But much more often, I cost myself more time, money, and aggravation. Many times I had to admit failure and call in the professional.

Too often we do the same thing with God, especially as inexperienced Christians. (I’m guilty of this). We try taking on Satan ourselves and fail.

It’s not necessary. God is always with us and ready to do the heavy lifting for us. Absolutely everything we need is in God’s word.

My earthly father has been dead for over 35 years. I loved him and love him still, and I miss him. There were also times when I didn’t like my dad. That was when I was much younger and had not learned to appreciate him and all he had to offer.

Sadly, I struggle with the same problem with God. I love Him, but far too often I fall to truly appreciate everything He does for us, regardless of the circumstances.

Even more than my earthly father, God’s love is boundless, timeless, tireless, and unconditional. We owe God the same.

When I was first saved I was very excited to talk with almost anyone about Jesus. Because I lacked Bible knowledge, I was very unprepared to answer hard questions or counter challenges to the truth of the Bible. I became shy and stopped initiating conversations about Christ.

Since I’ve started reading the Bible faithfully, my confidence has increased. And, as I’ve committed to praying daily, God is increasing my courage. I’m not sure you’ll ever find me preaching on a street corner, but I don’t shy away from talking about our Savior anymore.

I’m thankful God is helping me finish much stronger than I started.

I believe this is more than a promise from Jesus. I believe this is a challenge and an expectation.

There are several instances of people trusting God in the Bible: Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Mary to name a few. Peter probably came the closest to the faith Jesus is talking about, when he started walking on the water toward Christ. Wonderfully blessed each and every act of faith. He still rewards faith today.

I think there are various types and reasons for strife. There’s different sources of strife, both external and internal. Some are justified by God. Whatever the cause or source, the end of strife is always welcome.

On the other hand, people who stick their nose in other peoples affairs and stir up trouble are indeed foolish. Usually, neither side odds appreciative and God certainly disapproves.

Everything God promised in the past has taken place. The reminder of the rainbow is often seen. The descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Moses number in the tens of millions. The unbreakable covenant between God and man has been consecrated with the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.

Therefore, it is easy to believe everything God has promised in the future will also occur. Jesus will return in glory to take the redeemed to the mansion He has prepared for us in God’s Kingdom. Satan will be defeated and this earth will be destroyed. And, as David shared, “I (we) will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Psalm 23:6b.
