Great weekend to visit for any families that have never been.

The pies come out rectangular, cracker-thin, and dusted with a cheese that is definitely not mozzarella. This Nebraska pizzeria has run the same 1953 recipe out of what used to be somebody's house, neon mandolin man still glowing out front.

Chicken Parm Sandwich

Hand-breaded chicken parmesan topped with roasted peppers, marinara, mozzarella, and toasted on a Rotella’s roll.

Always the first item to sell out when we were running our food truck.

Joe Patane had a hunch Omaha was ready for Neapolitan-style pizza.

A carpenter by trade, he and his wife Nellie renovated a house they bought on the corner of 45th and Leavenworth and named it La Casa, “the house” in Italian.

They opened in June 1953 and ran out of food halfway through the first night, proving that hunch true.

Seventy-three years later, the third and fourth generations of Joe’s family are still in the same spot at 4432 Leavenworth.
