OMAHA RESTAURANT AMATO’S TO CLOSE AFTER 45 YEARS IN BUSINESS
After more than four decades serving Omahans, the owners of restaurant Amato’s Café & Catering have announced they are closing the doors. The last day of business will be June 23, 2019.
Sam Amato started in the catering and restaurant business nearly 50 years ago, first with a food truck, then restaurants including the current location at 64th and Center which opened in 1993.
Amato’s is well known for its ricotta pancakes, Italian sausage, and friendly atmosphere that keeps customers coming back.
Even before Sam passed away a couple of years ago, he and wife Ann had discussed when they would start to wind down the business, retire, and spend more time with their grandchildren.
“This has been a labor of love for us for a long time. Our customers have grown to be like family, so saying goodbye will be difficult, but it’s the right time”, said Ann Amato, owner of Amato’s Café & Catering.
“My dad always joked that at Amato’s you can always laugh out loud and put your elbows on the table. It’s a place where everyone knows your name and we can’t thank our customers enough for their loyalty over the years,” said Tony Amato, owner of Amato’s Café & Catering.
Amato’s will be open 7 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Tuesday – Friday and 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays through June 23rd.
They will be holding an online auction of restaurant supplies and contents after June 23rd at www.auctionsolutionsinc.com.
