The wings are sad to announce that Greg Sassone has stepped down from his position as Media Director. You have likely noticed that the game recaps have not been posted in recent weeks. Greg will still remain an integral part of the team on the ice but does not have the time to spend 5 minutes a week writing a recap. Greg is looking forward to having more free time. "Stepping down from my position frees up time for me to do the things I've always desired," said Greg. "I've always wanted to go to Europe and now I'll have the time. I know Mike Felter will take good care of my family while I'm gone.

The team is skeptical of Greg's resignation. Star benchwarmer and local looney Taylor Rosenberg says, "I truly think Greg just wants to stay home and play with his Star Wars toys." Sean McLaughlin, the team Irishman, and a staple on the team's Injured Reserve, said, "Greg's abrupt departure surprised us all. I'm not sure what's going on with him, but I'll bet a bowl of lucky charms and a Guinness would cure him. It always works for me!

Team captain Mike Granger, on the other hand, is looking forward to the Wings getting a fresh face to handle media relations. "To be honest, I never liked Greg's work. It was dull, repetitive, and often came off as lazy. Greg stepping down may be the best thing to happen to our team since we drafted John Zambanini in the first round of the 1957 draft.

The team reached out to ex-teammate Victor Novelli for comment but were unable to reach him. A message was left with his agent and was not returned.

The Wings are looking for a replacement for Greg. Please see the job posting on our page for an entry level reporter and contact our corporate office at the Olean Ice Palace if you are interested.

Sorry for the late post, but the Wings won Tuesday night 8-5 getting to 3-6-2! The human shot blocker, Jeff “Roadhouse” Scanlon, scores a goal and earned himself the Novelli Hustle Helmet award. Other note worthy highlight from the night came from Henry “Hair Gel” Scanlon with 3 goals and Chuck Massaro actually making an appearance! Chuck is out promoting his New album featuring a cover of Randy Newman’s “Short People”! Also jam packed with classic Christmas hits like “Felter got ran over by a rain deer”. Look for it in a discount bin at any Aldis! The wings take on Granny’s Green Machine next week at 7. See ya there!

The Wings fell back down to earth with an 11-6 loss to the Blades, coming to 2-6-2. This weeks winner of the Novelli Hustle award went to Miguel Felterez for his nifty back hand goal and also to putting the puck through his brother, Stephen Felter’s, legs, showing him that he may be smaller in stature, but he’s still the big brother! Also some highlight of the night, Billy Joel announced he will be playing in Buffalo this coming summer and former Wing Chuck Massaro’s band, the Strangers, will be the stunt doubles for the show! Get your tickets now and get your tickets for next weeks game vs Carter’s. 7 pm start. See ya there!

The Wings flew from the Moon to Mars tonight with an 8-6 win over the Green Machine! That makes it 2 in a row! The Novelli award goes again to Mike “The Diaper Changer” Granger for his solid effort in tonight’s game. Mike has also became a father so he will be living up to his nickname this week! Thanks to Chuck Massaro for donating his personal collection of onesies, baby Granger will have plenty to keep warm with this winter season! The Wings move to 2-5-1 and will face off against the Blades at 7 next week! See ya there!!!!

And we have lift off!!!!! The Wings finally launched into outer space with a 10-3 win over the Sealers! Multiple Wings lit the lamp, but Beezer “The Weezer” Zambanini chipped in with a hat trick and earned himself the Novelli award for this week! Aiden “Gnarly” Varley made some solid saves in net to keep the Sealers score low. The Wings move to 1-5-2 on the year and look to keep the wining streak alive next week vs the Green Machine. Puck drop is at 8:30. A sincere apology to all the fans who came for their collectable Mike Felter mask. Due to an issue with the mold, the masks came out looking like John Stamos. But hey at least you can look like uncle Jesse for Halloween this year!!!!!!

0-5-2 with a 12-7 loss. The good news is the Wings clinched a playoff spot! Other highlights from the night include Greg “Hold the Phone” Sassone ended his goal scoring drought and Mike “Born in a Manger” Granger, had a hat trick! Mike is also the winner of the Novelli Award this week! Next week the Wings look finally win against the Sealers. Don’t miss out on Halloween Night at the ice palace where fans will receive 1 of 4 collectable Halloween masks. Representing the Wings is our own Mike Felter. Don’t miss your chance to get your mask and look like Felter all year round just don’t wear it around small children. See ya next week at 7!

The only report out of the Olean Ice Palace from last nights game was the base fell 10-3, continuing the loosing streak. The lack of a write up this week is due to the Wings best writing being sick with the flu so we apologize. The Wings fall to 0-4-2. Next week the Wings take on the Blades at 7.

The Wings skated to a 5-5 tie tonight against the Sealers making them 0-3-2. Still winless on the season, the Wings will look to the positive highlights of game. Mike “Baby Hammer” Hamed scored 2 goals and popped his cherry in the big leagues! Also the blue liners stepped up with some goals from Mike “The Stanger” Granger and Taylor “The Rabbi” Rosenberg! Another positive from the game is that Michael “Gimmie Shelter” Felter has not been in the penalty box at all this season, even when he has clearly picked up the puck and skated away with it during the play! Mike Hamed takes the Novelli award for his effort tonight so congrats to him! Next week the boys take on the Green Machine at 8:30. See ya there Sammi Kusiak, our biggest fan!

No flying permit for the Wings again tonight, as they remain grounded with an 11-3 loss to Ka-Bar. In his final game before moving to Pittsburgh, Victor “Finally Shaved (not really)” Novelli, scored 2 goals! On behalf of the Wings, we would like to wish Victor the best of luck in all his future endeavors. It has been an honor having you as a teammate and you will always be a Wing! In honor of Victor’s contributions to the 3rd Base Wings, the player of game helmet and golden goal helmet have been merged into one award, the Novelli Player of the game Award! It will be given out to the player who best embodies Victor’s never quit, nose to the grindstone style, win, loose, or draw. In Victor’s “team first” attitude, there first Novelli Player of the game Award goes to, John Zambanini! Congrats to John! Next weeks game is vs the Sealers. Puck drop is at 7. See ya there!

The rust is still prevalent on the wings of the Wings as they fell to the Green Machine 4-3 at the Ice Palace tonight. Aiden “Don’t call me Chris” Varley kept the game close and some nifty goals by Jordan Zambanini, his baby brother Brady, and old rainbow gloves himself, Taylor Rosenberg, kept the boys within 1, but it was not enough. The Wings missed the presence of Michael Robert Felter on the blue as he is in Las Vegas, performing his award winning stand up comedy special, “Its not cheating, if I only Felter”. Check it out on Netflix in November! The boys look to finally take off from an 0-2-1 record as they take on Ka-Bar at the Ice Palace. Puck drops at 7. See ya there!!!!
