The wings are sad to announce that Greg Sassone has stepped down from his position as Media Director. You have likely noticed that the game recaps have not been posted in recent weeks. Greg will still remain an integral part of the team on the ice but does not have the time to spend 5 minutes a week writing a recap. Greg is looking forward to having more free time. "Stepping down from my position frees up time for me to do the things I've always desired," said Greg. "I've always wanted to go to Europe and now I'll have the time. I know Mike Felter will take good care of my family while I'm gone.
The team is skeptical of Greg's resignation. Star benchwarmer and local looney Taylor Rosenberg says, "I truly think Greg just wants to stay home and play with his Star Wars toys." Sean McLaughlin, the team Irishman, and a staple on the team's Injured Reserve, said, "Greg's abrupt departure surprised us all. I'm not sure what's going on with him, but I'll bet a bowl of lucky charms and a Guinness would cure him. It always works for me!
Team captain Mike Granger, on the other hand, is looking forward to the Wings getting a fresh face to handle media relations. "To be honest, I never liked Greg's work. It was dull, repetitive, and often came off as lazy. Greg stepping down may be the best thing to happen to our team since we drafted John Zambanini in the first round of the 1957 draft.
The team reached out to ex-teammate Victor Novelli for comment but were unable to reach him. A message was left with his agent and was not returned.
The Wings are looking for a replacement for Greg. Please see the job posting on our page for an entry level reporter and contact our corporate office at the Olean Ice Palace if you are interested.
