What a crazy day today…
We were busy from the moment we opened. Orders coming in non-stop all day. Just when we thought the day was slowing down, we got hit with a last-minute $800 catering order. The kitchen pushed hard, stayed focused, and we still got the entire order out on time.
Then right after that… a car crashed into the restaurant.
From the outside, the damage honestly doesn’t even look that bad. But the impact was so strong that when the elderly lady hit the building, the force slammed into our three-door commercial refrigerator — a unit that weighs over 500 pounds. It was hit so hard that everything went flying everywhere inside the kitchen.
Ingredients, inventory, and supplies that were getting ready to be prepared were suddenly scattered all over the place.
The scariest part is where it happened. That refrigerator is exactly where the chef usually stands while cooking. She was only about 8 inches away from it when it got hit.
By pure luck, the chef was not hurt. That could have been a very different story today.
The crazy part is we still didn’t lose the catering order food — we got it out on time. But a lot of other inventory and ingredients that were about to be prepared were completely lost.
Now comes the long night of cleaning everything up and putting the restaurant back together.
Running a restaurant isn’t easy. Some days really test you. But no matter what happens, we keep pushing forward.
We are still open.
