Yet another new adventure! (Because one can never have too many hobbies!) A huge thank you to Britta at Mountainman for her ever encouraging support. This winter a few designs from Wanderlost Vagabond will be available at the McCauley Mountain gear shop. We will have a website up and running shortly after the new year. In the meantime give our Instagram page a follow. We will be focusing on small batch production, with designs geared towards a fun and beautiful Adirondack lifestyle. We will also be offering one of a kind, recreated items from previously loved apparel. All in an effort to help combat the over-consumption that exists within the clothing industry. We're excited for this new adventure and hope you follow along!

It's our last day open for the year, so to celebrate making it through another season I decided we needed some chocolate chip cookies! (They're even gluten free for all of my celiac friends out there.)

Thanks again for another great year! I couldn't have done it without my amazing staff and supportive family. And to all of our customers that kept coming back despite the shift in direction....I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

My other passion project has slowly been creeping into the shop this summer.....Adirondack shirts that Gary, the boys, and myself design and love to wear. With May just around the corner, we wanted to update you all on the upcoming summer season here at Dough A Deer!  We plan to reopen at the end of May. This season will be one of some pretty big changes around here. We have decided to refocus our business towards health food. This will mean that some customer favorites will no longer be available, including sandwiches. After much contemplation and prayer, we feel this is simply the direction our business has to take. But of course we couldn't just make this decision without explaining why.

We have always been pretty transparent about our choice to focus on what's best for our family before anything else. Over the past several years I started pulling back on the quantity of baked goods we offered. It was a matter of time, but what we didn't disclose was that it was also a matter of physical pain for me. This winter I was diagnosed with Lupus, which finally gave me lots of answers as to why I have been experiencing increasing periods of severe joint pain. However, once I started medicine that could have potentially eased my pain, my immune system once again attacked itself resulting in a diagnosis of GPP, or generalized pustular psoriasis. This is a rare, and potentially life threatening disease that resulted in a hospital stay, weeks of doctors appointments and IV infusions.

As a result of all this, we just felt like our business needed to mirror what we believe in personally now. And that is how healthy eating can help to heal our bodies. Traveling and eating out can be so incredibly difficult for people that are gluten free or trying to make healthy choices. This is the void we want to fill. We have to provide what we believe in, and what I personally need at this point in my life. We recognize that many of you will be disappointed in this decision, and may choose to do business elsewhere. But for the rest of you, we hope that our new menu will be welcomed and loved. We will be posting it closer to our opening date. Until then, thank you for all of the support and encouragement you have always given us!
