I started this business as a hobby making cupcakes and cake pops for friends and family and thankfully through word of mouth from my AMAZING customers have grown this into a full blown business! We make cake pops, cookies, ANY edible favor you can think of! Cupcakes decorated to the nine! Ranging from a small individual smash cake to a 5 tiered wedding cake! We aim to impress with not only how great your sweet treats will look but how great they taste too! We can also do Allergy Free upon request! 🎂 SHEET CAKE vs. REGULAR CAKE — LET’S TALK ABOUT IT!

One of the biggest questions we get when discussing cake pricing is:

“Why is a regular cake so much more than a sheet cake?”

And we totally understand the confusion—especially if you’re used to purchasing sheet cakes from a grocery store or big-box bakery. But these are two very different types of cakes!

🍰 OUR SHEET CAKES
Our sheet cakes are a single layer of cake baked in a rectangular pan and decorated with buttercream. There is no filling and no stacking of multiple cake layers.

They’re a great option when you need to feed a larger crowd while keeping the design and construction simpler.

🎂 OUR ROUND & TIERED CAKES
These are completely different!

Our traditional cakes are made with multiple layers of cake, buttercream between the layers, stacked, filled, crumb coated, finished, and then individually decorated for your event.

Tiered cakes require even more construction, including internal supports so the cake is structurally sound.

✨ WHY DOES THAT AFFECT THE PRICE?

You’re not simply paying for “more cake.” You’re paying for the additional ingredients, preparation, construction, decorating time, skill, and customization that go into creating a custom layered cake.

And this is also why comparing a custom bakery cake to a grocery-store sheet cake isn’t really an apples-to-apples comparison. Large commercial bakeries produce cakes in much higher volumes using standardized designs and production methods. As a small custom bakery, each cake is made specifically for your order.

Neither option is “better”—they simply serve different purposes!

One of our favorite options is a smaller custom centerpiece cake paired with a sheet cake for additional servings. You get the beautiful cake for your photos and cake-cutting moment while having plenty of servings for your guests.

Whether you’ve been following Cupcakes by Jenn for years or you just found us, here are a few things to know about our little bakery!

We’re a licensed NJ cottage bakery located in Old Bridge, creating custom cakes, cupcakes, cookies, treats and so much more. We’re a small, one-woman business, which means everything—from answering inquiries and planning orders to baking, decorating and filling the Bake Shop Window—is handled right here by me. 💕

A few important things to know when ordering:

• Custom orders are subject to availability and minimum quantities.
• A 50% non-refundable deposit + signed invoice secures your custom order.
• Remaining balances are due 48 hours before pickup/delivery. No payment = no order.
• Our Bake Shop Window operates on select weekends, giving you a chance to grab something delicious without placing a custom order. 🧁
• Preordering is always the best way to make sure you get what you want!

💕 A little reminder about the person behind Cupcakes by Jenn…

When you order from Cupcakes by Jenn Bakery & Events, you’re supporting a true one-woman operation. There isn’t a team behind the scenes — it’s me, Jenn. 🩷

I’m the one answering your emails and inquiries, preparing your quotes and invoices, organizing the baking schedule, shopping for ingredients and supplies, baking, decorating, packaging, labeling, delivering your orders, and stocking the Bake Shop Window.

And when the apron comes off, I’m also a wife and a mom. I have a family, college drop-offs, lacrosse games, dinners, laundry, errands, and all the normal everyday life happening alongside this little business I love.

So when it sometimes takes me a little longer to answer an email, send an invoice, or get back to an inquiry, please know I’m not ignoring you. I’m simply one person doing every single part of your order from beginning to end.

Every cake. Every cupcake. Every email. Every grocery run. Every delivery. Every treat you see in that window.

It’s all me. 🧁💗

And I wouldn’t have it any other way. Your patience, support, orders, shares, comments, and recommendations allow this one-woman business to keep growing while I’m still able to be Mom and Wife, too.
