🩷 Pink Palace Dinners – Day 2 🩷

Tonight’s menu was one for the books.

🦐 Citrus Shrimp Boil
🫘 Brown Beans & Ham
🥒 Cruise Pickles
🌽 Cornbread
🥤 Sweet Tea

One thing I’ve learned while putting together this Summer Dinner Project is that the recipes are only half the story.

The other half is slowing down long enough to enjoy having everyone home.

The beans have been simmering all day, the pickles are marinating in the fridge, and tonight we’ll gather around the table and make another memory.

I’m keeping every recipe, every photo, every note, and every family review in my Pink Palace Dinner Book.

Because one day these pages won’t just be recipes.

They’ll be memories. 🩷

🫘💕 Brown Bean Debate Time 💕🫘

Tomorrow’s dinner at the Pink Palace is:

🦐 Shrimp Boil
🫘 Brown Beans & Ham
🌽 Cornbread

And before I start soaking beans tonight, I have a question…

How do YOU make your brown beans?

Do you:
🧅 Add onions?
🥓 Use bacon?
🍖 Use a ham bone?
🌶️ Add jalapeños?
🧄 Add garlic?
🍅 Keep them simple?
🥄 Sweet or savory?

My grandma made them one way.
My mother-in-law makes them another.
And every Southern cook seems convinced theirs is the correct answer. 😂

I’m always looking for little tricks and family secrets, so tell me:

👇 What’s your must-have ingredient for a pot of brown beans?

Bonus points if it’s a recipe that’s been passed down for generations. ❤️

🍽️💕 Day 1: Maurice Salad 💕🍽️

The Pink Palace Summer Dinner Project is officially underway.

This morning I woke up, ordered groceries, took a nap (because apparently surgery recovery still has opinions), and then recruited my favorite group of unpaid interns to pick everything up.

The groceries are here.
The fridge is full.
Hannah put everything away.
And now I’m slowly working through today’s dinner prep.

Chicken thighs are about to get seasoned and left to marinate.

Broccoli and cauliflower are next.

And I’m currently chopping ingredients for our very first recipe: Maurice Salad.

I’ve never made it before, but it looked too good not to try.

One thing you’ll learn quickly about this summer project: not every recipe will be a family favorite.

Some will become permanent additions to our dinner rotation.

Some will never be spoken of again. 😂

But that’s part of the fun.

I have nowhere to be today.
Nothing urgent to bake.
No market to rush off to.

Just a kitchen, a house full of kids, and a summer I don’t want to take for granted.

Wish me luck.

Tonight we find out if Maurice Salad is getting five stars or getting voted off the island. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

🍽️💕 SUMMER DINNER MENU 💕🍽️

I still have 6 weeks off after surgery, and I know exactly how I want to spend them.

Sharing my love through food.

Because before I know it, it’ll be holidays, birthdays, and special occasions before we’re all together under the same roof again.

One day your children are all living under your roof.

Then suddenly one is working, one is in college, one is getting ready for the next chapter, and one is building a life of their own.

So this summer, I’m cooking.

Not because I have to.

Because I know these days don’t last forever.

Fifteen days of dinners.
A kitchen full of laughter.
A few family recipes.
A lot of dishes.
And hopefully a few memories they’ll carry with them long after they’re gone.

The menu is hanging on the fridge, the groceries are bought, and Management is officially in charge. 💕

(And yes, if you ask what’s for dinner without checking the menu first, you’re automatically volunteering to chop onions. 🧅😂)

Love,
Management 💕

Lately I’ve been learning something that feels both exciting and a little scary:

Just because something has been a huge part of your story doesn’t mean it has to be the whole story.

For years, creativity looked like cookies, cakes, markets, and late nights in the kitchen. And I am so grateful for every moment of that journey.

But I’m also realizing that creativity can look like building events, creating experiences, designing new projects, learning new skills, and bringing people together in different ways.

Maybe growth isn’t leaving something behind.

Maybe growth is allowing your life to become larger than one thing.

❤️

You don’t need permission to let your life grow larger than your mixer.

The cookies were part of the story.

They were never the whole story.

✨ Hello Monday ✨

After a week away from social media, vacation memories, surgery recovery, airport goodbyes, and trying to keep up with all the life changes happening around here…

I’m slowly finding my way back.

This season looks different than I expected. Less baking. More healing. More family time. More figuring out what comes next.

But one thing hasn’t changed…

Sweet NomNom’s isn’t going anywhere. 💗

Thank you for sticking around while I took a little pause. I’ve got some new ideas, new projects, and a few surprises up my sleeve.

For now, I’m focusing on the small things and celebrating the big smiles.

Happy Monday, friends. ☀️

🌸 Life from the Pink Palace 🌸

“Sometimes life forces us to step away from the thing we’re good at long enough to discover another thing we’re good at.”

💗

Maybe the pause isn’t punishment.

Maybe it’s preparation.

Maybe the detour isn’t taking you away from your purpose.

Maybe it’s leading you to a new one.
