Coffee is a global platform where junctions occur. Junction Coffee is a unique business who's purpose is to create community and hope, rather than just a profit. We have two basic beliefs about people, (1) that everyone has great value and everyone deserves to know that value. And (2) often people don't know, or feel like they have value because of various circumstances or injustices in their live
s. Through utilizing a double-decker bus as a mobile café that serves coffee and small food items, we are able to connect with people in their own environment throughout downtown Oklahoma City. By conducting business in consistent locations in the city, we are able to use the platform of coffee to build an intentional kind of relationship that’s purpose is to generate community, express acceptance and worth within that community and engage the surrounding city in actions that express the same, while working against the systems that may express otherwise. With the proceeds of coffee sales we will support local and international organizations that are concerned with issues of justice and mercy. (ie: human trafficking, the poor and homeless, AIDS/HIV, lack of fresh water, education etc.) But our partnership will go beyond financial transactions. By coming along side organizations that are already at work in these areas, we can physically participate as well by organizing activities, raising awareness, voting, attending activities and so forth. By being mobile, we will be able to create a community that extends beyond one physical location but that bridges different areas of the city, different demographics and different social situations. Sure it will be great to drink coffee on the top level of a double decker bus in downtown OKC. But to drink coffee in a place that makes you feel valued and appreciated, while having a mission to make everyone feel the same way AND change the things that make people feel any less... well that's something to drink to.
