Returning to the Oklahoma City Museum of Art , One Work, Many Vouces invites visitors to experience a single work of art through the perspectives of guest speakers from our community. Rather than a traditional lecture, this conversation-based gallery program encourages curiosity, thoughtful discussion, and audience participation, reminding us that every viewer brings something meaningful to the experience.

This session explores I Refuse to be Invisible by Njideka Akunyili Crosby, on loan from Art Bridges Foundation. Joining the discussion are Suzanne Thomas, artist and Rose State College professor, and Tahnee Francis, chef and owner of Naija Wife Kitchen and a 2025 James Beard Award Best Chef: Southwest Semifinalist. Together, they’ll examine themes of identity, culture, memory, belonging, and visual storytelling while inviting guests to share their own observations and experiences. As new perspectives emerge, the artwork becomes a starting point for deeper understanding—not only of the work itself, but of one another.
Following the gallery discussion, guests are invited to enjoy a tasting of Nigerian cuisine prepared by Tahnee Francis. Extending the experience beyond the gallery, the tasting offers another way to connect with the cultural influences reflected in Crosby’s work through food, conversation, and community.

Update on the Instant Pot that I didn’t know I owned: I threw 3 bags on goat cubes in there like not even an hour ago and the timer thingy went off. Y’all I figured out how to open it just to check my goat…how come it’s tender and juicy, literally falling off the bone BEFORE it’s even time to wake up y’all’s Internet Niece before school??? What kind of sorcery is this?? ‼️🤣🤣 The same goat that took me 3-4 hours cooking on the stove to serve y’all! I am FLABBERGASTED LOL!!

So I went by and took my granny to the store earlier today(she’s 85!)…and she told me to tell y’all that her Kansas City Chiefs beat the Bronco “real good” on Monday 🤣🤣🙌🏾❤️💛 For those who don’t know, she is a HUGE football fan and faithfully watches Sunday and Monday night NFL games LOL! Her favorite team is the Chiefs, but she says she “loves them all”. Our Sunday tradition of us watching football together at her apartment starts this weekend and I’ll reveal to y’all the NFL team that I chose from your suggestions a couple of months ago! Week 2 of Retirement: I’m learning not to rush.

Coming out of survival mode after 6 years definitely takes an intentional sense of awareness. In my new home I have a breakfast nook and little study area. I’ve never used breakfast nook and study area. I’ve never made my mushroom coffee at home. It was always at the restaurant rushing to get a quick perk up AFTER my energy drink while cooking. Racing the clock for time, all 10 burners AND double oven going…the only cook trying to beat 11am opening time while making sure quality is up to par…for 6 years. Well this morning I’m at home up early doing something I’ve never done before. I’m sitting, I’m reading, I’m writing, and I’m sipping my mushroom coffee. Do I have concerns about the future? Oh yes. But this time I refuse to bow to anxiety. This time it’s different. No rushing, no panic decisions. Just enjoying my morning. I don’t even know where this mug came from like seriously lol. I literally just found it in my dish rack this morning, I’m I’ll take it as a message just for me 🥹 Love y’all! Have a beautiful Tuesday!
