He was always here every Monday and Tuesday by 9am. We will miss having him with us. If you got a chance to sit next to him and hear his stories, you were probably wondering who he was. Now you know. We will miss you Gordie 💙
Gordie V. Peer
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gordon “Gordie” Peer, who left us at the age of 94 in Okeechobee, Florida. A true cowboy in every sense, Gordie lived a life that many would call an epic adventure—one filled with daring stunts, western traditions, and an unwavering spirit of independence.
A proud United States Marine Corps veteran, Gordie’s journey took him across the country, embodying the cowboy way of life in every step. His legacy spanned from cowboying and circus clowning to serving as a daredevil and stuntman. Among his many remarkable experiences, he even taught legendary western icons, including the Lone Ranger himself, the true essence of cowboy living.
Gordie was a beloved figure in Okeechobee, dedicating much of his time to educating children at the local library and hosting cowboy-themed events across the nation. Whether he was sharing stories of the Old West or simply enjoying a meal at his favorite spots—Lakeside Café for breakfast, Golden Corral for lunch, or the Okeechobee Livestock Market—he was always surrounded by friends, old and new.
A friend to all and a stranger to none, Gordie Peer will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the entire Okeechobee community. His larger-than-life presence, his wisdom, and his stories will live on in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know him.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Friday, March 28, 2025. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
