Attention all Western BCA Tournament Players:
Beginning with the 9 ball Championships in October 2026, there will be a new end of match procedure for all divisions and all events (except Fun Day) in Lincoln City. The Tournament Committee surveyed the players, consulted with the Tournament Directors and Head Referee, and met over several months to discuss and implement a plan to keep the tournament on time and on schedule. Recently a proposal was submitted to the Western BCA Leadership Team, and was approved for implementation in all events moving forward.
There will be several measures in place to keep your matches on pace to finish within the allotted time available. Players are reminded to begin their matches on time, or early if the table is available, and players agree. There is no grace period for a missing opponent at the scheduled match start time, so don't be that nice person/team that doesn't raise their cue and call for a referee to put that player/team on the clock. Referees and officials will walk the floor and note the pace of matches. Reminders will be given to those players/teams for matches that are falling behind specific benchmarks. If you believe your opponent is taking more than 45 seconds per shot on a consistent basis, immediately notify a ref or tournament official. Both players will be put on a 45 second shot clock if deemed necessary by an official or referee.
Finally, no new games can be started with 10 or less minutes remaining in the allotted match time. Finish any game in progress. If there is no match winner after that game, proceed to a best of 3 spot shot shootout, that will be administered by a referee or tournament official. If a game win has not been decided after the best of 3 shootout, proceed to a sudden death shootout. Repeat for each game necessary until a match winner is determined. The full rules and description of the shootout, including diagrams can be viewed on our website: https://westernbca.org/
We'd like to thank the tournament committee members for their dedication to help solve the continued issues of slow play that have been a part of the events for a long time. Their commitment of time and effort is greatly appreciated. Thank you to : Zack Zager, Ray Cunningham, Dave Chavez, Mike Deitchman, Carlie Watrous, Rich Fearr, Ed Slade, and committee chair Chris Nordling.
Please help us spread the word to your local players at league. We are looking forward to another amazing year of pool tournaments at Chinook Winds Casino and Resort.
Thank you,
Western BCA
