Could get dangerously hot out and about today. Turning our ac down now!! Escape the heat this weekend!
Here are the all-time record highs for the area:
Salisbury: 106 set in 1930
Georgetown: 104 in 2012 (this is at the Georgetown Airport, there is some debate as some records show 106 from 1930)
Dover: 104 in 1930
Wallops Island: 102 in 2012
Wilmington: 107 in 1918
The Delaware State All-Time record was recorded in Millsboro, DE on July 21, 1930 at 110 degrees.
I think a few of these values are in play. I think Salisbury will be close, but 103 is what I have forecasted for a high. I think that Georgetown's is in play to be broken (if we go with the 104). I think Dover, DE is in play to be tied or broken. I think Wilmington, DE is in play to be tied or broken.
When you factor in the humidity, Heat Index Values over 115+ are in play for tomorrow for a good chunk of Delmarva. It will be very hot at the beach in the 90s before the light sea breeze will knock temperatures down a bit by the later afternoon hours.
I can't stress this enough (since a lot of folks will be off tomorrow)...if you are outside to enjoy the holiday weekend...plenty and plenty of water (adult beverages don't count), find air conditioning from time to time, sunscreen, all the normal things I would say here.
Be safe friends on Friday!
