For the first time in decades the Crab Stop was closed for a day in the middle of the summer to celebrate the 87th Birthday of “Pop”, Albert, aka Crabby Al . When the family started the business over 20 years ago in Ocean City we had one goal, to provide quality seafood with a family experience. Pop brought years of experience that he shared with generations of his family members to build the Crab Stop to what it is today. As many have learned he had a fall on opening day this year and broke his hip. He was able to make a few trips to the shop but he took well deserved time off. He witnessed the family members he mentored take the reins, make a few changes and business flourish. The stories we have heard from customers throughout the summer have been heart warming. Pop is loving, and sometimes grumpy, and an absolute character. He lived to be at the store and share stories, listen to customers and be with family. Whenever it was suggested he could take a day off & rest. He said “Ill rest when Im dead”. After checking in on the store and confirming at summers end all was in order Pop decided it was finally his time to rest.

To all our customers throughout the years that have loved and supported Pop, his family will continue to provide the same exceptional service that he has instilled in us. In true pop fashion it would be remiss for me not to end with a “Pop” quote. “Hurry up and place your order, I‘m not getting any younger” Until we meet again, the “Crabbiest Guy in Ocean City” We love you and will make you proud!!
