Built to incorporate renewable energy systems and other innovative technologies, The Hotel at Oberlin is

designed to meet the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED Platinum Rating, making it one of the most environmentally sustainable hotel projects in the US. Lewis Gateway Center, the cornerstone of Oberlin’s Green Arts District, an ongoing development conceived by the City and College to transform Oberlin into a model for environmentally aware economic development based on education and the arts. Using locally sourced materials and thoughtful, provocative design, The Hotel at Oberlin is a celebration of the community’s rich history and progressive vision toward the future. With 6,500 square feet of meeting and event space, The Hotel at Oberlin will offer the flexibility to comfortably accommodate your smaller event or group to your larger gathering or meeting. A primary Conference and Event Room features 3,800 sq. ft of state-of-the art space with large window and high ceilings creating the ideal venue for both meetings and social engagements. The room is divisible into five separate sections for break-out or intimate gatherings. The Event Room is supported by 1,300 sq. of Pre-Function and Terrace space overlooking Tappan Square. A second 850 sq. Meeting Room is ideal for executive retreats and small business meetings.

If you've ever wondered who keeps The Hotel at Oberlin and 1833 Restaurant from spontaneously falling apart, there's a good chance the answer is Paul. Whether he's fixing, troubleshooting, or somehow knowing exactly where that one missing thing is, he's been keeping this place running for years—and making it look easy.

We appreciate your hard work, endless patience, and ability to solve problems before the rest of us even realize they exist. Thanks for everything you do, Paul!

The Hope Collection

Some of the most meaningful purchases are the ones that make a difference. We're excited to welcome The Hope Collection to the Boutique Retreat! As one of our featured vendors, they'll be bringing beautiful, handcrafted goods that support artisans and communities around the world.

The Hope Collection by INTO is a fair trade, non-profit store offering beautifully handcrafted global goods from 30 countries and counting! The Hope Collection is sponsored by INTO, a fair-trade organization that directly partners with fourteen family workshops throughout Ecuador. INTO offers our partner artisans a long-term commitment to provide fair wages in their local contexts, product development, cost analysis education, microloans and access to more profitable outside markets. INTO’s approach is rooted in transparency, empowerment and ultimately love.

INTO was co- founded by Francesca Barbee (’03). Together with her husband Marco Barbee (OC ’04), the Barbees opened The Hope Collection in downtown Oberlin in September of 2020.
