🧡 September is Hunger Action Month!
Hunger doesn’t always look the way we expect. Sometimes, it’s sitting in a classroom right here in our own community.
During the 2025–2026 school year, the Oakwood Area Food Pantry’s Bags of Hope program provided:
• 🎒 1,140 weekend food bags to Salt Fork students
• 🎒 1,190 weekend food bags to Oakwood students
That’s a total of 2,330 Bags of Hope provided to local students identified by their schools as children who could benefit from additional food over the weekend, when school meals aren’t available.
The need extends beyond our schools.
On our regular Tuesday distribution days, we serve approximately 55–75 local families each week.
It is truly our honor to provide this service to our neighbors in need. 🧡
But we can’t do it without the generosity of our community.
This Hunger Action Month, we invite you to get involved!
• 🥫 Host a food drive
• 🎒 Collect items for Bags of Hope (easy to open cereal, soup, fruit, and veggie cups)
• 💵 Make a monetary contribution
• 🤝 Volunteer your time
• 📣 Help us spread the word
Every bag. Every donation. Every volunteer hour.
It all stays local and helps our neighbors.
🧡 Together, we can make sure our neighbors and our students have food on the table.
