Our Story

The Halal Guys, the New York City-based street cart turned cultural phenomenon, brought its signature American Muslim cuisine to the West Coast in 2017 with its first brick-and-mortar location in San Francisco. The warm welcome encouraged a second location in Berkeley in January 2018, and this summer, the exciting expansion will continue into Uptown Oakland, one of the East Bay’s hottest and most buzzed about neighborhoods. Billed as the arts and entertainment district of Oakland, with an array of Art Deco buildings deemed masterpieces such as the show stopping Fox and Paramount theaters, and known for its robust mix of dining, shopping, and nightlife, The Halal Guys joins favorites such as Umami Burger and Ike’s Sandwiches in Uptown Oakland. The Halal Guys will play a major role in offering a melting pot of cuisines to an area celebrated for its diversity and modernized mix of the old with the new.

Offering honest and approachable food, the New York staple has grown from its humble street cart roots to a globally renowned and celebrated fast-casual brand that boasts a cult following from coast to coast.
