All right. Today was fun. I spent the day doing the things that I do for my good friend and new partner of sorts, David Jacobson. He opened Cheezy's Artisan Pizza about nine or 10 days ago and the space is totally awesome, but it needs some love. Technically I kind of worked a shift from noon till 4:30. I rang in customers, I learned his POS. I got slices for customers and handled things while David took care of some business stuff. So I’m not gonna be working there all the time, but in these first few weeks, I am giving him my days off to help him get settled and get ready for our next adventure. I’m handling all the booking for both Fist of Flour Pizza Co. LLC and David’s gigs, and david’s gonna handle all the cooking because I am tired and old and I want my new hip to get me into full retirement. here’s a couple photos that you should all bookmark and go visit him. His pizza is amazing. Enough said.

Every time I drive up or down telegraph Avenue and I’m at the stoplight I look over and it just makes me so sad. RIP Commonwealth pub I know all good things must come to pass, but I think that one kinda hurts a lot. We had a lot of fun there in our early days doing pop-ups on their Sunday nights. It was trivia night. We got to play around with different menu items. We got cease and desist letters from the city of Oakland to not sell pizzas on the sidewalk. Ross Adair also got the same letter. So we took our kitchen inside and those were the good days. I have an Underberg in honor of Commonwealth pub later on today.

At least I can take care of one of these issues right now. 50 bucks just doesn’t get too much anymore. Barely a quarter tank in my rolling tank.

I’ve always loved making lists on my phone. Here’s the list I came up with last night at about 1130.

Its called “last push”

Last push
Start the fire at around 7 AM.
Load all the wood bins for the trailer or you have a long day so we need extra wood

Tablecloths need to get into the van and into the respective places

Don’t forget to maybe print table menus. Nope f**k it

Check out how much cheese you have and cut more cheese if needed

Build the hotel pans

Double check, Catering, dishes, and load in the van

Start sorting out coolers. We should only need to bring two coolers. Maybe freeze one of the newer sauces or maybe get into the refrigerator so we can pass it out and freeze it later. Empty out the refrigerator of all the meatballs and get those into the coolers. Trash for anything left behind into the refrigerator or freezer like the blocks of cheese.

Wing it
Double check yourself in the morning

Don’t forget to fill up the chili flakes, the pizza, crack, and Parmesan cheese. There should be enough in the fridge to load those and or deplete what we have in the house.

Don’t forget to have fun while you’re doing it. That’s not helpful but that’s what it sounds like right now..

F**k this is it. I simply can’t keep doing this anymore.

Right on time. It could very well be the last big burn for this here oven in my hands. Heading out to San Ramon today to do probably the last Catering. after today I’m shifting gears. Stay tuned for the next round of adventures with Cheezy's Artisan Pizza and his crew. Yep gonna go help out the first real pizza maker I ever hired 15 years ago.

It’s kind of strange. I’ve been running at break next speed for the last couple weeks. But the stage is set, and I am ready for my What, I believe to be, my final event as Fist of Flour Pizza Co. LLC. Tomorrow we’re gonna head out to San Ramon with a solid crew of four people, we’re gonna make pizzas and serve some things, and we’re gonna have a great time. I feel like I’m ending this on a high note, and I’m really looking forward to the next chapter of my life. So if anyone out there knows anyone who wants to buy a pizza trailer and a van and all things to make all the pizzas, you should get in touch with me because I’m putting up for sale all my things at the end of this month. I’ll try to take some pictures for posterity. See you all on the other side.

Yes, it’s late, yes, I’m tired, and yes, haven’t posted here in a minute. Things are happening over here, I’m settling into my new work life. I’m realizing that I am not physically able to continue Catering at the capacities I used to be at. But, we are in talks and we are already starting to work on a collaboration between what used to be Fist of Flour Pizza Co. LLC And the newly rising star of San Francisco and the East Bay, David Jacobson, and his company. Cheezy’s artisan pizza. Probably by October of this year I will be taking on the role of Catering events coordinator for cheezy’s and all of his operations outside of his newly reopened storefront on the corner of market and ninth in San Francisco. If you haven’t checked him out yet, don’t worry, he has a brand new space and has reopened in a new location on market Street. Look him up, and start checking him out. We’re gonna do great things together. So this is not a retirement but a shift in focus. Stay tuned for more exciting adventures with the guy who helped me figure out how to make pizzas and get a storefront opened, along with a handful of other people who were also very instrumental, including. Patrick Taylor who is now running his own pizza program out in Oklahoma at the Guthrie brewing Company. Basically just giving shout outs to some key people in my life and letting everybody know that I’m still out here making things happen, it’s what I do best.

It’s been a minute, but we are back on the northeastern campus for a taste of Oakland today. Kind of just did this for posterity because well I think I only have one more event left in me and then I am retiring at the end of September. We’re gonna make a bunch of pizzas for the freshman and we’re gonna have a great day. Cheers.

This is probably going to hurt my feelings a little bit. Was a “ooh lookie here” kind of buy the other day at the place withe mark on our backs. And maybe it’s funny, since my last event and having the surgery taking some time off, I’ve had more frozen pizzas than I’ve had like pizza from restaurants or trucks or whatever you wanna call it sliced places, etc. I’m a couple bites in and yeah, frozen foods of obviously come a long way and this is no slouch of a little tiny pizza. I never made it to this spot in New York to try the real deal, but I hope to get back there in the coming years. I gotta say right now this is leading the charge on the pizzas. I’ve tried in the last couple months. And Di Faro was up against the trader joes and Rao’s pies. Those were also not terrible. Joe’s was a lil too saucy and a bit sweet, i undercooked both of those. I’m on the lookout for Del popolo’s frozen pie. But ultimately, it’s clear that I need to get back to work and make some of my pizza again. We’re up and running, I’ve got quotes out, we’re just waiting for people to book. It looks like I could have a killer August. So keep that in mind as you’re planning parties!
