Brotzeit Lokal is a Bavarian-inspired restaurant and biergarten with a distinctively Oakland flare. We're located on the Oakland waterfront and feature locally-sourced, house-made menu items alongside a unique draft and bottled beer selection. laxing and family friendly atmospheres of the beergardens in Germany. We took over the old "Oyster Reef" building in October of 2012. While it had certainly had it's hay-day, it had been a run-down night club in a dilapidated building for several years. It had become a haven for prostitution and drug dealing and was a source of blight and crime in the neighborhood. The previous owners had been evicted, so they stripped and trashed the place. At one point it had even been slated for demolition by The Port of Oakland. We leased the building, quit our jobs and spent 6 months full time working on building our restaurant. We are proud to be a true, Oakland local family business. Built from scratch with our life savings, our own "elbow grease" and with the help of all of our closest friends and family members. We extend the warmest "thank you" to everyone who worked way too hard for way too little in order to make our dream into a place that we can share with our neighbors, friends and families.
