Hi, Friends.
Tough day today. It’s the last day of operations for Pete’s Joe and Snow as we know it.
A little history of Pete’s: We actually built this building for a group who originally wanted to lease the building for a coffee drive through. Before the building was finished they changed their mind. We reached out to a few other coffee businesses in the area, including Dutch Brothers to see if they’d like to lease the building. We really wanted Dutch as we had heard so many great things about them, but they didn’t have any other shops in the area and they manage their shops in groups. They said, “Maybe later, when we bring other stands to the Central Valley.”
So, The shopping center owner, (his name is Peter thus our name), and myself hired a manager, (Tatiana). We created Pete’s Joe and Snow pretty much out of thin air. I had actually sold shaved ice in the exact same location a couple of decades ago out of a building that looked like a blue windmill. It did quite well, so we found flavors from a company in Hawaii and added shave ice to our menu. We went to Moss Rose Bakery and asked if we could sell their pastry products. Peter did some research on his favorite coffee locations and found that Peerless Coffee was roasted in Oakland and was sold in all the places where he loved the coffee. We reached out to Peerless and negotiated selling their products. With Peerless Coffee, Moss Rose pastries, shave ice flavors strait from Hawaii, and a few other delicacies, Pete’s menu was a hit.
Tatiana had the same thing in mind for hiring practices. We did our best to hire and train great personnel who were upbeat and did their best to brighten our patron’s day. If you’ve been to Pete’s you know how incredible this staff has been.
A few months ago we heard back from Dutch Brothers. They were ready to come to Oakdale and are opening new locations all over the Central Valley. They made the shopping center a great offer for this location, agreed to bring on the Pete’s staff, and have been great to negotiate with. We know you’re going to love them.
And so, with a grateful heart I want to thank all of the staff that have been so great to me and to all of you. Have you noticed the 4.9 star reviews for Pete’s on Yelp and Facebook? That’s all because of them. We wish them the very best in their future endeavors.
And most of all we thank you, our loyal patrons who trusted us to make your day every day. We hope to see you back soon. We will be wearing a different logo, but the smiles will be the same.
With much appreciation,
Rich
