After her Jokky Nigerian Cooking Experience, our student went home and recreated the Egusi Soup she learned in class — in her own kitchen! 🇳🇬👏🏽

And she didn't stop there. She also recreated her Moi-Moi and shared the videos with us. ❤️

This is exactly what we want for our students: not just to follow along during class, but to understand the process well enough to confidently recreate the dishes themselves.

Our cooking classes are hands-on and customized around the Nigerian dishes YOU want to learn, with a minimum of 2 dishes per class.

In this hands-on class, our student learned how to prepare 5 Nigerian favorites:

She also received her cooking class binder filled with recipes, step-by-step cooking instructions, the history and origin of the foods, and recommended African grocery stores to help her recreate everything at home.

When the Minnesota Humanities Center called, Jokky Catering Services answered. 💙

I’m honored to have been one of six selected chefs invited to connect our food and heritage to the celebration of Juneteenth.

For two years in a row, Chef Rayo and Jokky Catering have had the privilege of being part of Juneteenth Joy, organized by the Minnesota Humanities Center — sharing Nigerian food, culture, and the stories that connect us.

For me, food is more than what we serve on a plate. It is culture. It is connection. It is family. And it is one of the ways we pass our stories from one generation to the next.
