First day back at Market Square for 2026 and wow… what a day.

The line didn’t stop from the moment we opened until we sold out. We’re beyond grateful for the support — it means everything to us.

We also know some of you were waiting for a while, and we’re really sorry about that. We were moving as fast as we could and doing our best to keep up with the rush.

Thank you for your patience, your energy, and for showing up the way you did today. We’ll be working on ways to serve you faster and better next time.

Came out here chasing coffee, but it’s already turned into a lot more than that. From quiet flights with empty rows to waking up halfway across the world, this trip has been about finding new ideas, new flavors, and a little inspiration for what’s next with Cafe Lomez.

The coffee scene here is on another level. Different beans, different techniques, different culture around it all and it’s got my mind spinning in the best way.

But it’s not just the coffee. The food, the people, the wildlife…everywhere you look there’s something new. It reminds you how big the world is and how much there is to learn from it.

This is just the beginning. A lot more coming soon. ☕️🌏

Sumatra means so much to me. It’s where my passion for coffee began, and it’s where I spent a few months living in the village of Ketambe while doing research. The people there welcomed me, taught me, and supported me in ways I’ll never forget.

Recently, Tropical Cyclone Senyar caused catastrophic flooding across Aceh, including Ketambe. Entire communities were swept away homes destroyed, families displaced, and many facing injuries and heartbreaking loss.

These before and after photos were taken by my friends in Ketambe, showing just how severe the damage is. I was able to make a small donation that helped provide essentials like water and rice for those who lost everything, but the need is far greater than what one person can cover.

If anyone feels moved to help or wants more information on how to support relief efforts, please message me. Even the smallest contribution makes a real impact.

📸 Roasting in Action at Café Lomez 🔥☕

We roast our own beans in-house every week to keep things fresh, flavorful, and true to our standards.

Our green (unroasted) beans come straight from Knoxville Coffee Company, and we switch up the origin and roast profile weekly — from bright washed Ethiopians to syrupy Guatemalans, to bold Sumatras. Why? Because great coffee starts with great sourcing — and roasting is where we bring it to life.

Some fresh updates at Café Lomez ✨

I just got back from Graphic Creations and wanted to share some of the changes to the truck. I’ve removed the photos of Lomez because as much as I loved her, it was hard to keep retelling the story with her real photos and repeatedly share those emotions. Now her story lives on in words, which still honors her without making it quite so sad at the truck.

You’ll also see a cleaner menu. Drink sizes are now in ounces and there is a focus on what Café Lomez is really about great coffee and fresh, hot beignets. That means saying goodbye to a few other food items. Prices have gone up just a little to keep up with rising costs, but I’m committed to keeping the quality as high as ever so every sip and bite is worth it.

Café Lomez is in full swing for the season, serving up your favorite coffee drinks and scratch-made treats every Saturday morning from 9 AM to 1 PM at the Market Square Farmers Market downtown.
